We humans might not be the only ones to ponder our place in the universe. If intelligent aliens do roam the cosmos, they too might ask a question that has gripped humans for centuries: Are we alone? These aliens might even have giant space telescopes dedicated to studying distant planets and searching for life. Should one…

I have heard that NASA is doing experiments to make Star Trek warp drive real. But, because of who we are a species, if starships become real and we travel to other inhabited planets, unfortunately the outcome will most likely be like in the movie Avatar and it’s upcoming sequels, instead of the Star Trek Prime Directive.
Most likely we will exploit the local inhabitants, destroy their natural resources for greed and profit, spread diseases from Earth, introduce invasive species, steal their lands, and then put the inhabitants of these Earth planets on reservations. Just like when after Columbus, the native people of the North and South American continents suffered this same kind of tragic fate.
I hope that is not the outcome if Star Trek warp is made real, but I am not so optimistic. I support Rain Forest Action Network, the National Wildlife Federation, and I sign plenty of online pro-environmental petitions. But, there is only so much I can do.
In other words, it looks as if after we have destroyed our own planet, we will then warp drive travel to the other Earth-like planets and do the same thing over again!
