Texas Vet Who Murdered Pet Cat With Bow and Arrow Fights to Keep License
(NEWSER) – The Texas veterinarian who was fired after boasting about killing a cat with a bow and arrow is trying to keep her license—and she promises she won’t do it again.
Dr. Kristen Lindsey appeared before state administrative judges Tuesday for the second day of a hearing about revoking her license, KAGS reports.
Lindsey has testified that the cat had a foul odor and fleas, leading her to believe it was feral and possibly rabid, though witnesses have testified that the cat was their pet, Tiger. Lindsey told the board that she hasn’t been able to find work since her Facebook post about killing the cat went viral last year, reports KBTX.
The Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners filed a complaint and is seeking to revoke her license.
The Facebook post that led to Lindsey’s firing included a picture of her holding a dead cat with an arrow through its head, the Dallas Morning News reports. “My first bow kill LOL,” she wrote. “The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through its head!”
She told the hearing that using a bow and arrow was an “efficient” way to kill a cat, but admitted it was inappropriate. “No, God no,” she said when asked if she would shoot another feral cat.
A decision on her license will not be made until next month at the earliest. An attorney for Tiger’s Justice Team tells KBTX that “many, many people” want to see her license revoked, which would be “appropriate justice.”

Question, where was the cat when she killed it? If your cat or dog is in my lawn, and using my flower garden as it personal litter box, it’s as good as dead. If you want your pets safe keep them in your own yard or house. What offends me the most however is pet owners who take unwanted pets and just abandon them. It’s not uncommon for me to find dead or starving cats in my yard. One more thing, cats take an incredible tool on song birds.
Something is wrong with you.
What do you mean by “as good as?” You know destroying someone’s animal on your property makes you liable, don’t you? Of course if you shot a human trespasser just for being on your lawn, you’d be judged a murderer – the principle is the same. Perhaps you’re just one of those who love letting know how angry you are in order to seem important, but let me be clear, if my dog got loose and you harmed him, you will wish you were dead. That’s a promise.
As for shooting a cat — in my state it’s a class one misdemeanor and you’re liable to civil penalties for destroying someone’s property. Even if one is a veterinarian licensed to perform euthanasia, shooting a cat does not meet the requirements for legal euthanasia, at least in my state where most pets are protected from such things as hunting. I should think she should indeed have her license suspended or revoked.
Dale I see your point with regard to the terrible toll takes take on songbirds and other small critters, however, I’m with Glenn as well. If one of my dogs managed to climb or jump over my 6-foot fence and wander into your yard, what with dogs being dogs and all, and you killed it, it would be an unhappy day indeed, if you catch my drift.
