Yeah, somehow the need to have a “black” man on the Supreme Court overrode all needs to have an intelligent honorable person on the Supreme Court!

How Clarence Thomas got through law school is a mystery to me. I can understand that he got in through affirmative action and that’s all well and good, but did they have to push him through to graduate on the same principles?

Raises the question of why a guy who thinks it’s funny to put his pubic hair on someone’s Coke can and likes to annoy female associates with dirty jokes is on the court in the first place, but the fallacy in his argument is in lumping together all misdemeanors as though they were equivalent. If a parking ticket or walking your dog on the courthouse lawn is a misdemeanor, it is not a crime of aggression or violence. Whether someone slaps his wife, or pushes her down the stairs or chokes her, it’s some level of violence. Abuse is a blurry word as well and can include mild scorn or neglect and other non-violent things. It may not be an easy issue for the court.

But I think I can say that Clarence the Clown, with his fine legal mind is engaging in equivocation here. All misdemeanors are hardly alike. I know that in some states, as in Florida, a restraining order against you curtails your gun rights, but the question arises about how effective a law would be in making someone give up the gun hidden under the mattress.
