Guns: Why an All or Nothing Mentality is Dangerous To Us All

The question is why, if we have enough gun laws, was a man on the FBI watch list for terrorists able to legally buy guns? We don’t need more gun laws, we need better laws that make sense. It should not be that easy to obtain a destructive weapon.

To get a car you have to produce a license for which you have already taken a driving test, eye test and been looked over by law enforcement, fill out paperwork, obtain a license for the vehicle. Is it unreasonable to expect the same scrutiny and process when someone walks into a gun store?

The second amendment doesn’t mean a free pass for any and all. In fact it speaks of a well regulated militia first and then ties that to the People’s right to keep and bear arms. This was not an endorsement to allow every brainless yahoo or evil git to buy and carry guns. In fact the second amendment is pretty clear on its intent, “a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State.” This amendment was written at a time when a rifle meant defense against attack, putting food on the table and defending their brand new country. They could not have envisioned high capacity magazines that would allow one man to gun down 50 people in such a short time. They could not envision the great big cities or the multiple millions of people who would day occupy every last acre of the wilderness they called home.

I own guns as well but this all or nothing at all mentality is both misinformed and dangerous to us all.

You know this man has been tested and tested and tested and passed his Security Guard exams with flying colors over and over. The FBI dropped the investigation and he was no longer under suspicion when he bought those guns.
He also passed a Florida exam which includes State and Federal background tests including checking his fingerprints against FBI records.

So much, as far as I’m concerned, for the insistence that background checks provide iron clad protection. Can people contemplate that just because you call it gun control doesn’t mean it works?

I am all for restricting magazine capacity, but there too, I don’t see that making much difference, because MADMEN AND JIHADIS DON’T OBEY LAWS.

When those 130 people were slaughtered in Paris, where such guns are prohibited, to say the least, they made it about the criminals. All we want to talk about in our vastly safer country is guns. They are a national obsession and more so when it comes to those who loathe, hate and fear them.

For me it’s not so much about the mass shootings as it is the number of shootings, both accidental and intentional. America has become an armed camp. Children are dying, and nutters are shooting themselves left and right. Suicide by gun is on the rise, and the statistics that speak to gun incidents are mind-blowing. No more guns. Now, being a practical person, I know that won’t happen in the Wild, Wild West that is America, but it makes me feel better to say it.

I am so tired of well it’s too soon to talk now, so why don’t we look at it in……. No this is the right time to say get war guns out of their hands. Since they all love the strictness of the Constitution, when it suits them, let them have muskets and all the guns that were available back in the day. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

..and I’m with you completely. No more war guns, or, in my opinion, any guns unless there’s a proper licensing procedure which includes a thorough and comprehensive background check and extensive training. Under no circumstances should civilians be allowed to own or carry handguns.

I have some friends that are now talking about let’s just not go to the club this weekend or let’s do something else instead of the Pride parade this year because some nut may copycat ours like this guy. FUCK NO a million times. That is what these people want and not all of them are from different countries wanting us dead, some citizens of our own country want that. Fuck that noise, I am riding next week with my aunt in the Dykes on Bikes parade proudly as an ally. I will not let anyone scare me into not doing things I love with friends and family. If something happens then it will happen and those that know and love me, will know I died doing something I love to do with people I love being around and I have zero regrets about anything.

Everyone has their thing, fun is my thing. I’ve ridden before in the parade but that was only because my leg was in a cast and I didn’t want to walk around to greet them at the end of the ride so they found one of their friends who had me as her rider for a minute. This year, yours truly will be sporting rainbow sprayed hair with my No H8 tank top and other fun things. I’ll see about getting you a photo if my hair turns out the way I intend tomorrow.

Why do you Yanks need all those bloody guns? We don’t have them in England and we don’t need them.

We don’t need them here either.

It makes absolutely zero sense to prohibit someone from flying because they pose a potential threat to the country and yet tell them it’s ok to buy a rifle with a high capacity magazine. Only in America. Land of the gun.
