“I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves,” said Michelle Obama and I took it to be a reminder that we’ve come a long way, although others will leave it as a reminder of an unjust and brutal stage of American history. Men like Lyin’ Bill O’Reilly however can’t just let things like this go without some irrelevant non-sequitur meant to smear and diminish and give the finger to hope. He has to tell us that not all the builders were slaves, which is irrelevant and an attempt at distraction, but that the slaves were well fed and housed.
Well then maybe it’s not really so bad, Lyin’ Bill, because after all, freedom doesn’t matter as long as you have enough to eat — and what about your wives and daughters back on the plantation, nudge, nudge, wink, wink? Well Massa goin’ to have his fun.
So hey, you wouldn’t mind Fox taking away your paycheck and freedom as long as you got grits and gravy and they let you sleep in the woodshed, right? What, you’re white? Well we knew that Bill. We knew that.
