Flying the Concorde was one of life’s most memorable events. I flew from JFK to Heathrow in 1992. The fun began at the terminal door. You were treated like royalty and surrounded by celebrities. H Ross Perot sat in front of me in the leather bucket seats. The tiny windows were disappointing, but they still gave you a feeling for the speed and altitude — and they were hot to the touch.
Being retired, I can’t imagine the need to travel that fast at that price ever again, but I would love to see it possible.
The noise factor is not minor however. I’ve heard it go overhead while crossing on the QEII and it sounded like a shotgun a foot from my ear. Scared hell out of me and I would have a hard time getting used to that!
Oh my Glenn. My husband is green with envy. He always wanted to fly the Concorde, but the price tag was just too high. Now that’s not to say we couldn’t afford it. We could, but hubby is just cheap, cheap, cheap 🙂
