Watch the Shocking Trailer for “The Case Of: Jon Benet Ramsey”

On December 26, 1996, Patsy Ramsey placed a 911 call that marked the start of one of the most infamous unsolved cases in American history: the murder of six-year-old beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey.

That 911 call can be heard in the opening few seconds of the trailer for CBS’s new six-hour docuseries, The Case of JonBenét Ramsey. To say that this audio, as well as the rest of the trailer, is absolutely bone-chilling, is an understatement. Watch for yourself:

“This little girl’s homicide, to this day, has been unresolved. In my opinion, I think we can change that right now,” says Jim Fitzgerald of the FBI.

That’s exactly what this new investigation intends to do. On the 20-year anniversary of her death, the JonBenét Ramsey case has been cracked wide open, as CBS orchestrates a team of new and original investigators to try and solve the murder. In addition to an FBI agent who worked the 1996 case, the show features prominent figures from the field of criminal investigation, including a Scotland Yard behavioral analyst, a forensic scientist, a forensic linguist, and a statement analyst, among many others.

The trailer promises new theories and new evidence. It also promises new investigations: most notably a complete reconstruction of the gigantic Ramsey home. The team is building the house in a 50,000-square-foot warehouse, so they can walk through a simulation of the crime scene, room by room. The trailer also promises new testimony: at the two-minute mark, it teases an interview with the 911 operator who answered Patsy’s call. Apparently, she has never been questioned by authorities.

“For 20 years, nobody asked me,” she says, eyes watering. “I think it really would have turned the case around.”

Once the goosebumps subside, let us know what you think in the comments. Will this show live up to all it promises? Will it shed a new light on this unsolved case, and finally grant justice for JonBenét?

“The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey” airs in three two-hours installments. The first premieres on September 18 at 8:30pm EST on CBS.

I am not as knowledgeable about the case as I tend to like to be. When I heard about it in February or so, I didn’t know how I had missed it, and then it occurred to me: December 26, 1996, I was delivering my first son and dealing with him as a new parent. Actually, the “20th anniversary” is NOT now, but a few months away when my son leaves his teens! But the whole case is chilling, and although I have an excuse, I’m not convinced that the investigators so far DO! I am actually looking forward to this.
