Donald Trump and Deutsche Bank: Questions of Ethics and Who Will Answer Them?

Read Time:4 Minute, 26 Second

Back when I was growing up, when I was around six or seven years old, I realized I might have a “gift.”  Now, I’m sure others have this gift so I am not saying I am necessarily special, and I am by no means clairvoyant, but my mind has always looked well ahead of the curve from an objective perspective. Sometimes I consider it a curse rather than a gift. Whatever the case it seems that I am always looking at the “what if’s” of any given situations.

So, I have to ask myself, why did the entire country see the most obvious problem of all with Donald Trump becoming president. Yes, he is a first class ass and in general what one would call a snarky person. Anyone who has not been brain dead for the last two decades knows that he is a narcissistic and thin skinned much like a typical school yard bully.

He is also an extremely insecure person who constantly needs to be reassured of his “greatness” even when he is not, which is pretty much always. He is that typical kid in high school that brags about his conquests, usually with girls. He is a great person and if you don’t believe it, just ask him. He will tell you that not only is he great but he is the best, and, if anything goes wrong it was never his fault, somebody else screwed it up. I remember a man that I respected a lot telling me that when someone told you how great they were, they were not. After all, those who are great never have to tell anyone; their actions spoke volumes.

My initial concern with Trump is just now getting some play. To fully understand the problem one must understand Donald Trump’s business model. His business model is him, period. I give him credit for being who he is because he has sold his brand well all over the world. But, without him, the Trump brand does not mean so much. Trump did well in the real estate business but he has done far better convincing people that having his name attached to their hotel, golf course, apartment building, restaurant, or whatever would help them make more money.  Now, one of the reasons that worked is because Trump insisted on certain expectations being met by those businesses. Now, here is the rub: If Donald Trump is no longer available, is the Trump name still worth the same?

Does someone paying $30,000 a month to put his name on their resort feel like they are getting the same value if he is no longer available to visit and advertise their product? There is the problem, and that is the quandary in which Trump and his family now find themselves. There happens to be at least one Constitutional Article and one federal law which seems to be gnawing at them right now. This has been bothering me from day one, although, like many other people, I never thought he would become president. I must also admit that I did not think that, should he become president, he would make it a family affair. His three eldest children have been so involved in his transition that they can no longer be called outsiders.

As I feared we are now at that point where he is trying to do a “work around” while the congress, nor the people have any idea of his vast business dealing around the world. Now, one problem is that the every one of the Republicans in the House are afraid to raise a pinky to challenge this problem. So, I must ask this question, not that I expect anyone of any importance to answer it, but who the hell is going to enforce ethical behavior from Donald Trump?  Reportedly, he has business dealings that, in one way or another, involve foreign governments.

He owes a lot of money, even by his standards, to Deutsche Bank which has had problems of their own with the justice department. So, as I feared, we now have an elected president who is unwilling, contrary to his campaign promises, to totally divest himself of his businesses. That would mean not just turning it over to his children, but basically selling what he can to help pay off his debts, and taking down some of the Trump signs, or at least those which may have any impact on his presidential decisions. The problem is, at this late point, is there enough time to do that and settle the remaining law suits against him? All of those people who voted for him never considered the mess we were going to be in at this point if The Donald won. How does the president keep his mind on the country when many in the country has filed suit against him?

My question, again, who is going to represent the people in this mess? The Republicans that pitched such a fit over “pay to play” against Clinton? I doubt it! So where is Comey? Probably hiding behind Putin. This is one F**king mess we have gotten ourselves into.

The ethical considerations, or lack thereof, are in the mist at the moment, and some potential violations are at the discretion of the Justice Department, soon to be owned by Trump, in the person of Alabama racist Jeff Sessions. Don’t look for any prosecution anytime soon. good article sir.

Thank you Lyndon. There are one or two other hopes out there but they are big ifs. The is an organization of Constitutional lawyers who may step forward if this becomes too blatant which it just might do considering the number of billionaires who have potential conflicts themselves. It seems that Trump does not understand the whole conflict of interest thing. He is still thinking like a businessman and not like a government employee or elected official. He also, possibly without realizing it taking the idea of using his kids to run his business completely out of the picture by using them on his transition team.

Lil’ Donny Drumpf, draft dodger, coward, misanthrope, whoremaster, abuser, now, thanks to idiots, the actual president of the U.S. Impeachment can’t happen soon enough.

P.L. I agree but I find it doubrful. In the future what you will see is the appointmentsame Trump is making most, if not all of them, will add to their current pile of money. Trump and his people do not see the world nor ethics the way the average person does. In the field of business there is nothing wrong with positioning oneself in a situation to make money. However, when working people look at this issue they expect their leaders to not make profits off their decisions as a government official.
Just as Trump has used Twitter to impact Lockheed Aircraft showed a callous disregard for their employees and in 140 characters or less cost Lockheed $2 billion in market cap. This is something that should have been done after becoming president and then discussed with Lockheed.

As I wrote on an earlier thread, impeachment, when the tools rest with the overwhelmingly GOP populated House of Representative, is doubtful.
