Donald Trump: The First Grifter To Successfully Con the American Body Politic

The Trump Presidency is a phenomenon of historic proportion. We need to give credit where it is due. Trump managed to pull off the biggest swindle in the history of the Long Con. He’s the first Grifter to ever successfully con the entire American Body Politic.

“But he didn’t con me – I voted for Hillary.” That’s what you’re saying RIGHT NOW. Isn’t it?

Maybe you wrote in Bernie. Maybe you showed us all and didn’t vote. Or perhaps, you pulled the lever for Splif-boy. But either way, it wasn’t you who were conned. Right?

A young couple is on their honeymoon in Vegas. A slicker comes along and tries to pull a Wallet-drop. The wife immediately smells something fishy, but the husband takes the bait. She tries everything. She cries, threatens, pouts and even begs. But he’s bitten the hook. In the end, he hands over their honeymoon money. It is still the young bride who must call her family to have their airfare wired over. One bought the con, one did not – but BOTH were conned.

Trump is President. And ALL of us were conned.

The first obstacle in Trump’s path was the Media. He needed to convince them of his legitimacy. But Trump is nothing if he’s not smart. Brilliant, in fact. I have said all along, that Trump is dangerous – not stupid. Bush was stupid. Trump is dangerous. You can’t be truly dangerous and not be smart. Rather than convince the Media that he was a legitimate candidate, he convinced them that coverage would result in ratings. He dangled the brass ring, and they all leapt at it, like dogs to bacon.

The Media scrambled to prove his legitimacy, only so they could prove their own.

The next domino to fall was his base. That was easy. Just tell them the hateful, fear mongering and pie-in-the-sky promises they wanted so desperately, to hear.

But we’ve got to disempower the “bride,” in our little allegory. That part of the mark – that tiny voice in your head, that says “don’t do this.” Professional con men call this phase, “The Stall.” Typically, that’s the part where the con man actually tries to dissuade the mark. It serves two purposes. 1) It furthers the bond of trust the mark has in the operator. 2) it tests the mark’s commitment to the con. Trump threw us plenty of stalls. He mocked a disabled reporter. Surely that would be the end of his “campaign,” right? Wrong. He bickered with people on Twitter. He even sat down with Megyn Kelly – his arch nemesis – and she folded like a cheap suit. Classic stall.

There’s a part of every con, called “The Back.” The Back of a con is something negative that can be used as a stick if the carrot isn’t enough. For example, making the mark believe he could be implicated in a larger crime. Murder is often used as a Back. Make the guy believe that the cops will suspect him of murder. Don’t ask me how I know this. I might not give the answer you want to hear.

Trump’s ‘Back’ was Hillary. Hillary served as the perfect Back.

So, here’s the thing. Trump’s our President – and WE – ALL OF Us – are his marks. He conned us all, no matter how you voted.

But, Hillary is gone. She’s gone. She’s done. She’s not coming back. She’s what? 80? She will be by 2020, anyway. And even if she could, she’ll never run again. A Presidential campaign is a monumental task. 99.9% of us, couldn’t complete one. She’s failed at two. She doesn’t have that third strike in her. Anyway, the American People have spoken. Jack Greenberg could have beaten Trump with 2 paws tied behind his back. Quite simply, we just won’t tolerate a Hillary Clinton Presidency. Ever.

So let’s stop fighting the “Hillary Wars.” I get it. She’s Satan in a pantsuit. She murdered 99 people. She started a dozen wars. She wants to bomb Russia. I get it. But we’re arguing over a corpse. Let’s stop. Let’s deal with the real problem at hand. This country is now being led by a Sociopath con man.
