For Trump Supporters the Butcher’s Bill Is Falling Due
by Michael J. Scott
Face it folks, Donald Trump’s proposed “policies” will not make America great again. If you voted for him, you are soon going to realize that the butcher’s bill is due, and you just may not have the money to pay it.
Those Americans who live in rural areas and make up the lion’s share of Trump support, will, depending on which side you are on, deservedly suffer because of their candidate’s environment, trade and agricultural policies.
In America, wealth and income inequality will become even more extreme, thus punishing and constricting the life opportunities of the vast majority of Americans of all races and backgrounds.

Efforts to roll back and destroy Obamacare will deprive literally millions of health insurance and may lead to the hundreds of thousands of deaths. Potential deportations of undocumented immigrants will further damage the economy by raising the cost of food and services while also requiring large expenditures of federal money.
Henry Giroux, a well known American and Canadian scholar as well as cultural critic, has repeatedly warned, the “dead zone of capitalism” will only be expanded by those such as the feckless Donald Trump and the unhinged Republican Party’s obsessive advancement of predatory capitalism and austerity.

Red state America, largely dependent on the taxes and economic activity generated in blue states, is already economically unproductive and parasitic. As such, Trump’s policies will disproportionately punish his greatest supporters, and many believe, in the spirit of sweet revenge, that they must reap what they have sown.

The butcher’s bill is certainly coming due, and, in the days to come his band of merry men will find them deprived of everything they had taken for granted. Will it make a difference? Not to all of them, but perhaps to some of them. Most don’t read the WaPo or NYT, or watch cable news, or any news. If they did, many wouldn’t understand what they were reading or hearing. Many wouldn’t believe it anyway. Nonetheless, they will still pay the bill, time and again and again.
