Historians Will Ask: What Happened To the Once Great United States?

Republicans and the like are constantly bitching about Obama’s use of Executive Orders, and the idea that Obama ruled without the consent of Congress.

I see it as my duty to keep the historical record straight, so after the fall of the Reich – during the Reconstruction – when people are looking for who to blame, they won’t rely on the lies and propaganda we’ve been fed since Clinton.

So first off, you should know that Obama only issued 276 EOs during his 8 years in office. Dubya issued 291, by comparison, and Reagan issued a whopping 381. Eisenhower issued 484, but the clear-cut winner was FDR with 3,721 Executive Orders.

Furthermore, Obama’s EOs came mainly at the end of his tenure, and only after constant obstruction from a Republican majority in the Legislature. Each of his EOs was studied carefully, and all the possible ramifications were taken into account. Obama never issued an Executive Order without consulting directly with the department who would be tasked with carrying it out and never excluded any agency that would be affected, from discussion.

IT, on the other hand – that thing (I’ll write “pejorative” here, so you can infer the venom in my voice) that has invaded the Peoples’ House – Has issued 10 EOs in his first 6 days in office. There has been zero consultation with either Congress or with the DOJ or any agency. Many agencies that have been or will be affected by Trump’s EOs don’t even know the orders exist. Other orders may either be outright illegal or may have legal consequences that are unknown. For example, his order to reopen the construction on the Keystone Pipeline doesn’t take into account that the corporation responsible for the pipeline is currently engaged in a lawsuit against the Federal Government.

But these are details, and what are details to a man like Trump? Two years ago, I started trying to warn you of what will happen. I’ve given up on that. My goal in life now is 2-fold. 1) Survive the coming cataclysm and help rebuild America after the fall. 2) Not allow my utter hatred and contempt for that orange bag of walrus vomit to destroy me.

Historians are keepers of the past. We don’t just read history books and regurgitate facts. We research and learn what really happened. We interview primary sources. We read journals and diaries. We study maps and statistics. I can only hope that future Mexican historians – after THEY become the 1st World Power – will find my online scribings and learn what really happened to the once great United States.

The past, however, is instantaneous. Before I completed writing that sentence, it automatically became a part of the past. Therefore historians must guard the present with the same jealousy we guard the past.
