Donald Trump-Making America Great Again In 2025

Read Time:2 Minute, 17 Second

by David P. Greenberg

It’s January 2025. A visibly worn Donald Trump is about to begin his third term. After the debacle of 2020, elections were outlawed, but Trump still enjoys telling his Twitter Army that he won by 110%.

And this is Bob. Bob has always been a Trump supporter. He thinks Trump is going to Make America Great Again ©.

Bob’s house was robbed a few weeks back. One of those Illegals must have slipped through the net. Bob called 911. After giving his card number over the phone, the 911 operator deducted the cost of the call but informed him that he didn’t have enough in his account, to afford police protection. “Don’t you have a gun?” was all she could say.

Every morning, Bob burns the gasoline off his water and makes coffee. He’s been trying to drink less coffee these days. The trade wars have made the stuff almost impossible to afford. He rubs himself down with protectant and takes a shower. The brown water feels good on his rubber-clad skin.

Since McDonald’s recently won the “Fast-Food-Wars,” most Americans get all their food there. But Bob loves “Consume and Spend” Tuna. Theirs is the only brand that’s a full 50% real tuna. Or so they claim. Of course, nobody would hold them to that. Why it’s been a decade since food companies had to label their products truthfully.

A plume of thick black smoke follows Bob’s American car out of his driveway, and up to the automated toll machine. Bob has to exercise caution when he drives to his job at Carrier. He spent his road allotment too quickly this month, and now he’s paying interest on a transportation loan. On his way to work, he sees a group of Private School children, playing. “I’m glad I don’t have kids,” said Bob, aloud. “I hear tuitions have gone up again, this year.”

One of the kids apparently forgot his gas-mask, and the other children are chiding him for it. Bob’s only thought is how are those poor parents going to pay the doctor.

Bob walks past the sign at work that reads, “123 days without a terrorist incident,” and clocks in. Bonuses today. Bob’s happy. It’s 5 dollars he can really use.

Bob used to have an engineering job that paid him 75,000 a year, plus benefits. Bob was a member of the IBEW. He had vacation days, sick leave, and health care. Bob drank clean water, drove on free roads, breathed fresh air, and enjoyed… shhh… “reading books.” Don’t worry Bob. Your secret’s safe with us. But back in those days, Obama was President – and look how that turned out. Bob believes Trump will Make America Great Again ©.

America is crashing around us, and until Trump is removed from office that will not change.

I think we’ve all been having such Orwellian visions and although many will say it’s hyperbolic and silly, one of his first actions was to allow coal mines to dump toxic waste in the water supply while complaining Obama was harming the miners with regulation to protect everyone else. The scary thing is that we’re dealing with immensely powerful, immensely immoral and irrational liars and too many of us are barking like dogs. Reagan, our first hair club president, taught us Anarchy was good and each of his successors has amplified the message.

Funny thing about that coal miners EO. It mentions nothing about coal mining jobs. It’s a gift to large corporations who want to pollute, not to the poor working stiffs in Pennsylvania, even though that’s how they’re selling it.

Keep writing! I’m writing and calling, at least once a week, my representatives. Apparently the phone lines are overwhelmed because you rarely get through anymore.

I am without words, and, for me, that is rare indeed. I can picture this, and it’s not pretty. Fortunately it’s fiction, good fiction, but could it really happen here? Maybe. Just maybe. Perhaps we should ask Bob.
