Donald Trump Walks Into A Bar…..
by Glenn R. Geist
Donald J Trump walks into a waterfront bar. After the local fishermen, still wearing their white rubber boots, take one look, they beat the shit out of him and toss him into the gravel parking lot behind the bar.
Okay, I’m dreaming, but it’s true that he looks so bizarre you’d be shocked to see him out of context. He looks so bizarre that if you found him at your front door, you’d slam it in his face. If he sat down next to you on the bus, you’d get up and move. But we elected him president.
We have Mike Pence, who looks quite normal touring Europe trying to convince other governments Trump isn’t as insane as he actually is, but here we are seeing him as normal, as just another president and even a good one. Dishonest? delusional? raving about things that never happened, elaborating on lies based on other lies and hiring people to tour the world explaining that “what the president meant to say when he talked about the voices in his head was. . .”
Maybe it’s the result of 70 years of television, but fake is the new reality. Our grandfathers would have taken one look at this charlatan and grabbed the family shotgun. We see him as a hero. A significant number will still believe in the Bowling Green Massacre and the Swedish revolt and that Elvis is alive and because of our misguided system of voting for presidents such people will be given much more political power than their numbers should warrant.
As long as the politicians and the media, both representing the billionaires, can keep people afraid of bogeymen and invented enemies it will keep happening — that’s if we can assume we will still have elections after Trump makes us great again. We need to get rid of the electoral college system and start to think of the USA as “one nation, indivisible” instead of making a bad taste joke out of it.
I don’t think Trump’s looks are that bizarre. To each his own–at any rate, I don’t think that’s the characteristic to dwell on. It’s the content of his character; or would be, if he had any character.
Pence is ideologically wrong in his own right, but nowhere near as scary. For one thing, Congress would just see him as one of them, nothing to be intimidated by. (Just your normal, everyday, US Jesus-freak end-times dominionist.) Without the fear factor Trump inspires, I think they’d have no problem disputing Pence as necessary. Of course, we have to hope that even w/in the GOP there are still some semi-rational voices…
Trump is the xenomorph alien and Pence is the acid for blood – you don’t dare kill it.
Well said indeed, albeit a bit chilling 🙂
Pence did/does look normal, and I’m not sure if that makes him even more scary. That being said, I do think I would prefer his religious fanaticism in the Oval Office, as opposed to downright dirtbag crazy.
Hear hear.
We’ve survived a religious nut job before (witness George W. Bush), but Trump is just batsh*t crazy – and using the office for his own self-service as well!
