We Call Them Traitors: We Call Them Trumpists
by Glenn Geist
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The first amendment. What can we say when an assault on everything enumerated above is a prime target of the slash and burn Trumpist? Let me see: It’s a Christian nation. The free exercise of other religions may be abridged if it interferes with that Christian nation and the things it hates. Speaking against the Trumpist party should be made a crime. Demonstrating against the Trumpists may be a crime and even asking for clarification in a press conference will engender mockery and the command to sit down. Bills have been introduced to absolve people who run over protesters.
And what do we think of people? What do we call them when they insist that kind of oppression is fine in the name of “bringing back jobs” by magic? We call them traitors, actually. We call them Trumpists. What do we do about them? Well, that’s up to you, but time is running out for those who give a damn.
