Harmless Snake Causes Panicked Woman To Nearly Crash Car

It wasn’t just air that came out of the car vent in Florida, reports the AP. Monica Dorsett says she “almost crashed her car” when a red rat snake crawled out the air conditioner vent as she drove down a highway in Venice.

Dorsett tells Fox 13 news she was in traffic on March 10th when she saw a snake slither out of the vent to the left of her steering wheel. She cut across two lanes and stopped in a parking lot about 210 miles northwest of Miami. She says she slammed the door with the snake half in and half out.

Her husband then opened the door and the snake fell to the ground. She says he “euthanized” it, because that is, after all, what you do when you know nothing about snakes, except what you may have been taught, and that is they are all evil.

In this case, the snake was not only harmless, it provided a service by eating rodents.  Ignorance once again rears its ugly head.

Actually she injured the snake badly by closing the door on it in a panic. That is why they killed it. Great job only reporting PART of the story and making assumptions about their reactions. http://5newsonline.com/2017/03/17/woman-almost-crashed-her-car-when-snake-slithered-out-of-air-vent/

I thought it might mean that. To me it was confusing whether snake was half-way out of the air vent or half-way out of the car.

Yes, I certainly wish they had come to their senses and not killed a harmless snake. (Or even a venomous snake for that matter.) But I can easily imagine panicking when a snake emerges from your air vent! Just that good old evolutionary fight or flight thing… 😀

I rescued a snake from the parking lot of a Walmart-type store last fall–poor thing was in the middle of acres of asphalt and probably panicking his/herself.
