Running Out the Clock
by Glenn R. Geist
I can’t deny the morbid fascination of watching the Trumpocalypse with open mouthed horror day after day, but more than half that horror stems from the totally oblivious nature of the American public, or at least that 30 – 40% who seem to see a different Trump than the one sleeping alone in his tower in the Palm Beach Kremlin.
There’s more than enough to hold one’s attention with the evidence of long term and massive money laundering, the huge oil deals involving Trump’s cabinet members manipulating government policy to free up the flow and tap into unlimited tax free money. We watch his vampire offspring, sneering at the press as they attempt to suck as much blood out of America as they can before the sun rises, if it ever again does.
We can obsess over the rape of air land and water, the defeat of science and the end of research, the recrudescence of ancient mythology and religious proctology, racism and bigotry – but it’s happening too quickly for most of us to keep up with. He’s already a hundred times more the would-be dictator than he was on January 20. Most haven’t noticed. Many still see this only as him “settling in and learning the ropes” all the while he rants and raves and threatens judges, law enforcement and the constitution. His rages and his fantasies are becoming wilder and wilder as he retreats into the world of conspiracy theories and paranoid websites, Bannon and Breitbart and InfoWars and Levin following him around in black robes like a Greek Chorus. Nothing else is real to Donald Trump but his “vision.” Even facts are fake.
Most haven’t even noticed yet that Trump wants to tell Bill Gates to shut down the internet so it can’t be used for ISIS recruiting. I’m sure Gates would smile at the thought that he could or would if asked,
“Somebody will say, ‘Oh freedom of speech, freedom of speech.’ These are foolish people. We have a lot of foolish people.”
Dracula rising from the grave wouldn’t scare me half as much. “We have to help the new president make us great again” says the voice on the street. Oh, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly – oh Freedom indeed and oh those foolish people. Trump is on a roll. He may have reneged on most promises including using US steel to endanger the lives of Native Americans for profit, but he’s making good on his promise to jail opponents on trumped-up false charges and to “start winning wars again” It isn’t handwriting on the wall, it’s neon, it’s scrolling lights and fireworks and you’re not seeing it. Soon enough he’ll have to be removed before he launches the missiles and the invasions he will need as the only way to get him out of his predicament. We don’t have much time.
I lost faith in the American public after they elected Bush a second time.
“trumpocalypse.” Now that just sums this shit right up.
Trump tweets at 5 am that Obama tapped his phone.
Oh boy. What is there left to say?
Mad as the proverbial hatter.
Yes he is! Guy is carrying about a half-stringer of fish.
He He! His elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top.
Dracula can be killed (again) with a wooden stake through the heart. How do we get rid of the monster in the White House Glenn?
I generally scoff at all suggestions of an “apocalypse,” but not in this case. I firmly believe this lunatic could well kill us all.
