Saturday At MMA: Unplugging From Donald Trump And His Ship of Fools

Donald Trump has been president of the United States for a little over 100 days, and I am absolutely exhausted. I spend much of my week writing about, or editing Trump posts.  I sit hunched over my computer and iPhone obsessing over the fallout from Trump’s bizarre, and often inexplicable executive orders, from banning travelers, looking to develop our national monuments, to opening up the door for religious nutters to preach hate from their pulpits.

Then there’s the latest: his intent to destroy ObamaCare, and deprive millions of health insurance just so he can have a “win.”  I just can’t do it.  I can’t think about it every single day.  It’s not healthy.

I watched the footage from the many protests that have cropped up around the country and scoured the internet to try to make sense of it all.  I stay up late and wake up early, feeling nauseous about how quickly America had succumbed to Trump’s authoritarian intentions, guilty for not being at the protests, and furious that our government was turning its back on victims of the worst humanitarian crisis of the 21st century so far.

I realized I just had to unplug, at least for one day a week. Unplugging, after all, isn’t just about protecting your mental health; it’s also about making sure you don’t get complacent about Trump’s actions because you are completely burned out.  As a result, Saturday at MadMikesAmerica is me taking a break from the horror exacted by Donald Trump and his ship of fools.  I need a break.  I need to breathe, and be happy again, even if it’s just for one day.  Enjoy our new Saturday only format, and stop, even if just for a few brief moments, thinking about Donald Trump.  Just say NO!

Due to an injury that put me on the disabled list, and kept me there chemically, coupled with a windstorm that claimed my TV antenna, and failure of my internet connection, I’ve been out of the loop almost a month. I didn’t realize how cathartic that has been until a friend took the occasion of a late evening phone call to bring me up to date in Trump etc.. I didn’t sleep that night.

Take the break Mike. There is life beyond

Whatever, he was and still is WAY better than what theProgresses had to offer. A Hillary Presidency would have been the most devastating thing that ever happened to this country.

Here’s a little something for you that still works today, even though it was written for another president.
