When Victory is Defeat

Liars never lose, at least it’s the strategy that works best to keep your dwindling support from running for the exits. When your defenses tumble, you declare victory.

So of course the testimony on Thursday , at least the testimony we were allowed to hear, wasn’t the conclusive damnation many expected and many more hoped for. The real testimony was behind closed doors and is likely to have been more conclusive, one way or the other, but we can’t know at this point.

Donald Trump, who does know has wasted no time buying vicious and specious attack ads and in hiring a classic sleaze-bag lawyer, full of bullshit, bluster and lies who immediately was caught with his major accusation being a major lie. More evidence of his utter unsuitability as a man much less a leader of them. It’s a blatant lie unless you’re an inveterate Trumper and think that four days afterward is a day before. A clear case of alternate logic or alternate reality or as William of Occam might say: bullshit.

But Trump is reverting to his old habit of suing detractors and critics whether or not it’s doomed to be dismissed as, ahem – bullshit , which of course this is. Indeed The imperious President has often said he’d like to change the law to punish critics and somehow, knowing this in advance we elected him after calling his predecessor a tyrant.

I’d say Trump is about to be hoisted on his own petard once again, or by his own lawyer, but in the Orwellian Bizarro world of Trumpism, Loss is victory, yesterday is next week and all’s fair in fraud and Twitter. Sad to say, we’re going to have Donald Trump to kick around for a while longer and worse, he’s going to have everything that’s honest and good and true and patriotic and SANE to kick around too.
