An Englishman Muses About the Mad King’s Transgender Military Ban

Well, actually, I suppose the correct title would be ‘Trump Won’t Let Transgender People Anywhere Near The Front Line’ but that would be too long for a title if you ask me. Mind you, the titles long enough already. I don’t really see the point of discussing Trumps thought processes on the whole. I have heard this transgender business has something to do with the US armed services having to pay for medical needs of serving soldiers.

Is this correct? I suppose then, from a financial point of view, it may well cost quite a few million dollars if enough military personnel decide to change from Michael to Mary or the other way around.

The most odd thing, to me, about Trump’s transgender tweet is that everyone knows that members of the LGBT community have, for pretty much as long as there have been wars, served their countries with distinction.

Admittedly they couldn’t say they were LGBT until terrifyingly recently – come to think of it the ‘T’ bit of the community wouldn’t have even been acknowledged until even more recently and, frankly, the ability medically speaking to switch from one sex to another wasn’t even available.

Had it been though, I think we can rest assured transgender people would, just as lesbian, gay and bi-sexual people have been doing, serve their countries with distinction.

Apart from the most ardent bigots, straight people are generally fully accepting today of lesbians, gays and bi’s. Most of us have friends in one of those categories at least. Transgender people are still much further down the hill they are climbing towards acceptance though and I wondered why.

Is one of the problems of acceptance related to their appearance? Many of the men who have become women still look very much like men. Their faces are still quite masculine. I don’t say this to be controversial or offensive but I can’t help the truth.

Could it be that many are uncomfortable being around a woman who is so clearly formerly a man? Possibly.

I’ve been in a pub with pals and a clearly transgender woman, formerly a man, has come in with friends.

“Ey up, it’s a fella” sniggered one of my pals.

Now the pal in question is a decent chap and, had the transgender woman heard him, she may have felt a little upset and he would have been mortified but, I have to say, sniggering aside, she did have a masculine face.

I wonder why this is?

The renowned ‘lady boys’ in Thailand is it? I think it is – anyway, the ‘lady boys’ almost without exception have the appearance of a stunning woman. An entirely straight pal of mine was certainly taken in until they arrived at his hotel room and boy did he get a shock!

Watching a TV quiz show the other night a quite obviously transgender woman was a contestant. As she was on TV I could stare to my heart’s content without causing embarrassment to either her or myself so I did.

I couldn’t see, for the life of me, what she could possibly do to avoid, at some point, the sniggering “It’s a fella” comment.

She was wearing very nice make up but to no avail. Her face was clearly masculine.

Having zero medical knowledge in hardly any field let alone transgender issues I wonder what can be done to help here? If a woman has the misfortune to be born into a mans body isn’t there some kind of surgery, a la ‘face lifts’ and the like, that can be included in the transgender process? No idea.

It’s a touchy subject I suspect and I won’t be entirely surprised if someone takes a pop at me for daring to point out the obvious – that many transgender women look very masculine about the face.

I’m convinced this is the primary reason many otherwise quite reasonable people may feel a little uncomfortable around them. I could be wrong of course but it makes sense to me.

Trump banning them from the military is typically ridiculous. If they wish to serve their country and, potentially, be at risk of death or injury whilst doing so it is, frankly, offensive to ban them just for being transgender. If it’s purely due to the cost of them changing and nothing else then, I suppose, the argument is a little different.

Either way, transgender people, particularly from male to female  – (as men formerly women can ‘get away’ with a more feminine face far more easily) – have enough on their plate becoming themselves and, in the case of former men now looking facially still masculine some way to go for complete acceptance in society.

Mind you, as a former Royal Airforce Search and Rescue pilot, once a man, now a woman pointed out.

When she flew in her helicopter to pluck military personnel from the cold waters she doubted they could care less whether she was male or female.

If someone saves your life I suspect you’ll feel comfortable around them even if they do look a bit like Corporal Klinger.

The media feed off of him. These days will be remembered in the annals of CNN and others as their days of triumph. Never again will their revenue be this high, unless there’s a war of course. Oh. Wait….

Interesting thought. What if the media started to no longer cover his obnoxious statements.

My question is: how much coverage does this fool get in your mainstream news?

Plenty of coverage. Sadly generally he’s portrayed as our ally.

Not always mind you.

Sometimes he’s portrayed as the dangerous idiot he is.

Hell of a world eh?

This ignoramus lies so much he has to hire someone to call his dog. He tried to tell the American people that he reached this decision after consultation with his generals. They vehemently deny this.
