Oh Man Do I Miss Obama
by Bill Formby
These days I tend to find myself sitting and thinking about things more than I actually do things. Seems appropriate. I will borrow a few lines from a Mark Chesnutt song, “…too hot to fish, too hot for golf, and it’s too cold at home” as a window to view the current venue of the world. Actually, it’s not too cold at home but sitting here thinking about an Orange headed buffoon and his ever entitled family and friends destroying most everything I have believed in for so long makes it feel too cold anywhere.
I projected some time back that within a year people would be wishing we could have President Obama back. I missed him before he actually left as did every other thinking American. But, there are those who are still worshipping at the feet of the Republican gods like McConnell, Ryan, and yes, even Trump. They did not see this clusterf*ck coming, and they are blindly denying that it is actually happening. It is a sad thing to watch adults spit and sputter as they continue to try to explain the unexplainable.
It is a sad thing to watch adults try to explain away the unexplainable. I don’t know when I have seen this much waffling by so many people since my last trip to a Waffle House. The lies and just down right pretending that situations don’t exist is really getting to me. To point out the obvious Trump and his group have yet to acknowledge that he, The Donald, is causing all of the chaos in the White House. Still, that bedrock sturdy group still supports him and accepts what he says when it always turns out, according to him, someone else’s fault.
Our current excuse for a president has not known what he is doing since he stepped into that office. Despite all of his claims and promises The Donald has basically been wandering around like a chicken with his head cut off. Everyone who gets to be president has a learning curve to just get something going. Trump and his American oligarchs have just been wandering around like the steel balls on a pinball machine. They just bump from one thing into another, and another…well you get the picture.
I may be wrong but it seems to me that those who voted for, and still support Trump, have lowered the bar of tolerance of incompetency to the point one would have to be the best limbo dancer in the world, and be flat chested at that. Trump has literally gone from just lying for the hell of it to possibly putting the country at risk. How much lower will the Republicans let this go before someone with some pride puts country before party.
What is really sad is that virtually all of the people that put him in office will be hurt the worst by his presidency. Maybe at that point they will understand what most thinking people tried to tell them. Of course, now that Trump has gone up and met with Pat Robertson, he will have the backing of the Bible thumpers. They have shown their true colors by preaching one thing and supporting just the opposite. If there has ever been, or will be, the AntiChrist, it will likely be Donald Trump.
One point I wanted to make was how dismal everything is right now. I was looking through some YouTube videos and came across some featuring former President Obama. The difference is so amazing between his tenure and the way things are going now. People were actually smiling and enjoying themselves, unlike now. I don’t want to sound sentimental but man do I miss Obama.
Obama was always a decent and honorable man. Rare commodities in politics particularly.
He could be forgiven mistakes as he was so so human and we all make ’em.
Your loss was the worlds loss.
We miss him too.
It’s nice to hear that old bean. Very nice.
Thank you for that Neil.
Oh Bill. I’m with you and everyone on here. I didn’t agree with President Obama on everything, but I respected, liked and admired him. I’m sad he’s no longer in the White House.
Racheal, at least with Obama I felt comfortable
President Obama was our shining star. Donald Trump is our black hole.
Amen on that.
I miss President Obama every day. I imagine there are a lot of world leaders who do as well. We went from sophistication to buffoonery.
That is a great way to put it Mike.
