THE CURIOUS TALE OF JOHN EDWARDS AND “BUNNY”

Just when you think the John Edwards sex scandal/love child drama can’t get any more twisted and convoluted — it does.
In a riveting article in The Daily Beast, writer Lloyd Grove details the interwoven perversion which led to heiress Rachel Lowe Lambert “Bunny” Mellon (yes, of these Mellons) donating millions to the John Edwards presidential campaign, and how she inadvertently, paid for his mistress Rielle Hunter.
Bunny MellonBunny, as she prefers to be called, fell head over heels for the handsome, energetic South Carolina Senator, and like many, hung her hopes for America on his flowing cape. The two met through a mutual acquaintance (Andrew Young, Edwards closest aid and affair-coordinator) and the two began a bizarre courtship, one only those of privilege and power can possibly comprehend. She, with her vast wealth and power, he with his ambition and need for campaign funding, forged a partnership to put him into the White House.
As Grove describes, Mellon saw the same vibrancy and charm in Edwards as she had in a young John F. Kennedy (a close family friend). I should note, Bunny is 99, and she’s seen and heard it all in her just-shy-of-a-century’s worth of experience. Hell, Mrs. Mellon attended JFK’s inauguration – how’s that for historical milestones.
So while Edwards was charming the worldly heiress, his aid in all things most immoral, Andrew Young, was hitting up Bunny for donations to his “campaign,” and Bunny, full of faith and charity, gave freely to the tune of almost $3.5 million.
But then something odd happened. Young called upon Edwards’ new-found benefactor for a special “donation.” Grove writes:
In 2007 and 2008, at the height of his crusade against the “Two Americas,” Mrs. Mellon secretly gave Edwards a total of $700,000 for his personal use—paying required gift taxes of up to 45 percent—at the behest of Young, who was acting as Edwards’ bag man. Young told her that the senator had an urgent “personal need,” according to a knowledgeable source.

Lol TeeLuck! I have to say that I agree, although Spitzer was stupid enough to admit it and even dumber to resign.
Spitzer could have given him some names, he would have saved a lot of cash with Ashley and still be in the race…
He should have hired a hooker…that would have been money better spent.
I hate to say this but Edwards is making Clinton and Gingrich look like Robert Young (an analogy probably wasted on those of you still under 40).

Very true Bill…He was a real dumb-ass about this. I am damn glad he didn’t get the nomination. Too bad. I liked him, and still do, but come on….There are ways to have affairs 🙂
Someone forgot to tell Edwards that what Kennedy got away with in the sixties was a one time deal not to be repeated by mere mortals. Especially not during the days of 24/7 surveillance and news coverage.
