THE PRESIDENT SLAMS REPUBLICANS!
I listened most carefully [today] to our president’s speech and subsequent Q&A. Obama, fresh off his State of the Union address, which stressed the need for more bi-partisanship, spoke at a House Republican retreat at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel.
The president was tough and articulate, tolerating no nonsense from the likes of representative “Jeb Whatshisname” from Texas [who made] ridiculous claims about how the democrats were responsible for the continuing deficit and the attendant increases.
He admonished republicans for giving the impression that his administration was “Bolshevik.”
Representative King of Georgia whined about what he should tell his constituents. The president made it clear that the GOP had backed itself into a corner by demonizing him and the democratic Congress, leaving little room for negotiation, or modification.
His main message was the Congress needs to work together in order to find intelligent and workable solutions to the problems we face today.
I was most struck however, by how much the president has aged in one year. Anyone who thinks this is isn’t a tough job needs to remove their head from the nether regions of their body……

P.S. Clinton was also a great president IMHO and he also aged most rapidly.
Bee there is no doubt that this job ages them.
As to the meeting/debate today there were only a couple of righties who managed to make the camera. The majority were not seen, only heard….
Zeppo, I read on HuffPo earlier that GOP aides said afterwards that they should never have allowed it to be televised. HUZZAH!!!
MadMike, I noticed that at the SOTU. He had one a bit of makeup for the cameras, but you could see the aging. You know, I’ve kind of had this little pet theory, that a decent president ages dramatically during their first year, and look about 20-40 years older than they really are by the time they leave office. It means they’ve been doing a heck of a lot of worrying, pulling late nights, etc.
It was a beautiful thing to watch.
I haven’t seen the video yet, but this sounds absolutely fantastic. I think there are many House Republicans who are seriously sorry they agreed to cameras.
