THE PALIN ATTACKS FAMILY GUY!

Read Time:33 Second

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her daughter Bristol have issued a statement on Facebook blasting Fox’s TV network for running a show that makes fun of individuals living with Down’s Syndrome.

On Sunday’s Family Guy, the character Chris Griffin dates a woman suffering from Down’s Syndrome. The woman says her mother was the former governor of Alaska, suggesting she’s making fun of Palin’s youngest son, Trig, who has the condition.

“My dad’s an accountant, and my mom’s the former governor of Alaska,” the mentally challenged character quipped.

In a Facebook statement, Sarah Palin called “yesterday’s Fox show” “another kick in the gut,” and asked, “when is enough, enough?”

As long as someone can generate noise and money from idiots Fox will continue to grab them and put them on the air. They understand that pandering to stupidity is profitable.

BTW,

here’s an “American Dad” clip that will make you laugh, if you forget about the fact that a lot of people still feel this way about Oliver North:

It’s amazing how Fox News hires people who could have been tried for treason and ex-governors of Alaska who took more federal tax dollars for their State than they sent to Washington yet complain about big government.

@Lazer’s Edge,
I’m with you. I can’t get over just how tasteless it was but I still see their point. Alex Borstein (voice of Lois Griffin and formerly the “Mrs. Swan” character on MAD TV) is credited with pitching and sometimes writing some of their more offensive episodes. It’s a pretty Liberal, but decidely “not PC” group of writers on that show who seem to believe that explicitness, in any form, in any degree is good for society… -with that acknowledged?
They sometimes insist on taking the most callous route toward making a point for a laugh, which opens them up to the worst kind of misundersatndings of their intent, but also the best kind of viral promotion, as I’ve had to have several conversations about the episode since it aired with people who don’t even watch the show.
There was a dance number on another Seth MacFarlane animated show “American Dad” called “We’re Red and Gay” about Log Cabin Republicans that drew similar responses. Also funny, also pretty tasteless.

You know I guess I saw this a bit different. I have a friend with a Downs Syndrome child who really appreciates “mainstream” opportunities for her daughter. It sounds strange I guess but her daughter is 16 and actually went on her first date last month at her school. There were normal kids there and there kids there who kids there with varying degrees of disabilities. My friend saw this episode and said that she hoped that one day her daughter could actually go on a real date like that. The whole thing has left me confused. As far as The Palin is concerned I consider her a non entity. If I ignore her maybe she will simply go away.

Mike, that’s pretty much how I feel about all her “victim” whining…screw’it.

I never get to watch tv, so I didn’t get to see the whole episode. My first thought: Gee, it’s a Fox show, and she works for Fox. What a loyal employee!

Second thought: She’s the one who trotted that poor baby out on stage during the campaign at 10:00 at night when he should have been asleep in bed, all to get a few photo-ops and political yammering points. So, her feigned distress doesn’t fool me.

My third thought is, I have seen Family Guy before, and for Stewie, that was tasteful. That’s not saying much, eh?

Palin makes a pretty fair point. But, yes, at this stage of the game, the victimhood thing is really starting to wear. To use Ms. Palin’s own damn words, “When is enough enough?”

@Mad Mike,
it’s a pretty shockingly tasteless episode, but I did watch all of it.
At the story’s end, Chris (Fat blonde kid in the clip) after having dated the girl, who despite having Downs Syndrome is not the innocent, nice, sweet, easy-to-manage person he assumed she was because of her disability, ends up hating her and dumping her and screaming something along the lines of You’re just as mean and terrible as all the other people
-Which was the episode’s point, but as usual with Seth MacFarlane he took the most abrasive route to make that point.
I think he’s been looking to pick a fight with Fox News, and Murdoch for a while now, -he said as much in the Playboy interview last year.

Tasteless yes. Funny no.

That being said. People with Downs Syndrome usually live productive lives so maybe not hiding them from humour – not that this qualifies in that field – is overall a good thing?

Mind you. If I had a Downs kid I’d be protective to so I don’t blame Palin.

Hang about…didn’t I read somewhere that she works for Fox now?

Wonder how long that woman will be at Fox.

All over the news here. Didn’t know it was all about a TV cartoon.

Frankly, Palin is getting to be tiresome.

My gut reaction after watching the clip is that it’s pretty tasteless but isn’t that true of most of the shows that come from Fox, including the News channel of course.
