PROGRESSIVE FAVORITE KUCINICH CHANGES HCR VOTE TO YES

Read Time:1 Minute, 2 Second

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who penned a column in Sunday’s Cleveland Plain Dealer outlining his opposition to the health care bill, reversed course today and now says he will vote for it, the Plain Dealer reports here.

Kucinich, a liberal Democrat, voted against the House bill in November and had argued that President Obama’s version of the bill did not go far enough. But he had been coming under heavy pressure lately to vote yes — including a visit Monday to his Ohio district by Obama. Kucinich flew on Air Force One with the president and hinted that he might change his mind.

The Washington Post on Tuesday described the pressure that Kucinich was under in this article:

Asked whether he was reconsidering his position, Kucinich demurred. But Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) said Kucinich is coming under intense pressure from Ohioans who want Congress to act, and from his colleagues in Washington.

“All of us — the governor, the congressional delegation, the president — are making clear to Dennis that we won’t have another chance for a decade if this doesn’t happen,” Brown said.

USA TODAY’s Richard Wolf has a story here on the intense lobbying by the administration.

Here’s a video of Kucinich explaining his change of heart:

It seems that Kucinich has had the treatment from the boss, that’s what bosses are for, and has decided something is better than nothing and the possibility of improvement in the future. If Kucinich can be swayed anybody can be persuaded.
