Obama Rises in Polls – Majority Trust President and Dems to Handle Problems

Read Time:1 Minute, 15 Second

According to the Washington Post, for President Obama and his party, there are some positive signs in their poll. The public trusts Democrats more than Republicans to handle the major problems facing the country by a double-digit margin, giving Democrats a bigger lead than they held two months ago, when Congress was engaged in the long endgame over divisive health-care legislation. A majority continues to see Obama as “just about right” ideologically, despite repeated GOP efforts to define the president as outside the mainstream.

Those polled also say that they trust Obama over Republicans in Congress to deal with the economy, health care and, by a large margin, financial regulatory reform. And the president continues to get positive marks on his overall job performance, with, for the first time since last fall, a majority of independents approving. Disaffection among independents with Obama’s policies has been one of the major shifts in public opinion over the past year, making this small movement one to monitor over the coming months.

These shifts may be modest, but they come at a time when Obama and his fellow Democrats have been on the offensive, after months of playing defense on health care. The debate over financial reform in the Senate has given Democrats the opportunity to paint the opposition as defenders of Wall Street and unpopular financial institutions, while the passage of the health-care law has freed the White House from a burdensome issue that had taken a significant toll on the president.

Things are NEVER, EVER as dire as the GOP says they are. The GOP has very little to stand upon, so it is trying to appeal to the most base of peoples’ emotions, trying to whip up fear and anger, and in the process it is getting people to bypass their critical thinking skills. The poll results are encouraging, in that they show the GOP strategy may not be working as well as they like to think it is. 😎 I HOPE it isn’t working, anyway. The idea of the Congress being filled with tea party darlings like Marco Rubio is too painful for even the remotest consideration!

Regardless of what the tea party types say, i believe they are all basically Republicans, and they are anti-Obama. Being anti-Obama is the basis for their entire movement, I’d say. They attempt to be noble by saying they dislike the Democrats and the GOP both, but they are really just far right-wingers. And it was a movement I believe was started by a handful of rich guys who knew there was a new president who might try to raise taxes on wealthy people. So why not whip up a lot of fear and anger, and raise an army of fearful, angry people to go out there, do their bidding, and get into the news a lot? Start by getting some crackpots riled up and into the news, so their crackpottedness gains some credence. And it will snowball!! People who have been afraid to act out in public for fear others might think them crazy don’t have to be afraid to do it any more! We can say whatever we want! If it feels good, do it! (Oh wait though, that was one of the mottoes of the much maligned Sixties, and they would NEVER adhere to something like that… my bad!)

And hey, wait a minute… don’t rich people own and operate our news media? Yeah, I thought so. Is this why the tea party gets so much air time and is being lent so much credence?

What a sham… do these millions of people who are getting so whipped up with the tea party stuff realize the extent to which people are pulling their strings? No, I thought not.

Thanks for sharing the poll results, MM!

I just hope the Democratic Party realize that it was Obama’s effort in health care, the Republicans appalling behavior and nothing they did. Keep supporting the President is the best policy.

You do realize that once the Dums process this polling, it’ll be a case of “see, wishy washy bipartisan ponyism works!” and then it’s back to supplicating before angry gooper scowling and the occasional Boehner crocodile.
