Priest Sex Tape a Bestseller in Brazil

I thought I had heard it all, but now there is kiddie porn being sold on the street as a hot commodity. Dom Phillips reports on this latest outrage. An excerpt:
In the small Brazilian city of Arapiraca, tucked away in the poor, conservative northeast corner of the country, a hidden-camera video showing an octogenarian priest having sex with a young altar boy is being hawked on the street. For $5 to $10, vendors here will sell you the video, downloading it directly into your cellphone via Bluetooth. The price depends on the quality and length of the footage. According to one street vendor, the most popular download is the “complete” version. Buyers, he says, are “almost everybody—not just the curious.”
Sadly, the tape was created by another altar boy who was trying to obtain evidence of the abuse he and others were suffering. Said the boy, “Because there has to be a good end to this story. I was already his victim. And it brought a lot of fear to do something… I wanted proof.” Complicating matters are allegations that the boys were using the tape to extort money from the priests involved.

Did I just hallucinate reading that? He admitted he molested them but said they were wrong to come forward? What planet is he from?
This whole priest thing is confusing and depressing. Then again I can’t stop writing about it. I guess because it is news.
The kids were twelve, but as you can probably guess since the abuse was ongoing it must have started when they were younger. “Father Duarte admitted he had sexually abused both Flávio and Fabiano, but suggested his victims were wrong to come forward.” Once again they only regret it because they’re caught, not because it is wrong.
Just like teenagers and criminals.

“Complicating matters are allegations that the boys were using the tape to extort money from the priests involved.” Okay, but isn’t it illegal, nonetheless, in Brazil for dirty old priest to rape and have sex with minors? These bad boys of the Church need to be treated like the perverted criminals that they are–long overdue.

Humanity can be a terrible thing at times.
