Beaver working with some serious wood!

Read Time:21 Second

Those little beavers have been working on this since the mid-1970s and it has gotten so large, 2800 feet long, that it is visible from space.

Researcher Jean Thie said Wednesday he used satellite imagery and Google Earth software to locate the dam, which is on the southern edge of Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada.

Here is a link to a Google interactive satellite view….

I sure hope some enterprising oil company doesn’t find any black gold. They’ll burn that sucker right into ash.

Dang! That’s a thought!

Our friend has a beaver living under her deck. Apparently some show wants to send out a “beaver cam” to film it inside its lodge. She spent half an hour talking to this person about “beaver cams” and such, all the while making truly obvious double entendres about beavers, but the guy never noticed!

I would have loved to have been privy to that conversation.

That is just awe inspiring. We have a young beaver working on trees in our local park. I even came within feet of him one evening while walking Molly (my border collie). The only problem is he was working on specimen trees planted by the local garden club. In an effort to encourage him to work on the “wild” trees, park workers had to put up fencing around all the specimen trees.
Here is the strange part; with all the evidence of wood cutting, I still can’t find the dam…

How many beavers does it take to build a huge beaver dam? How many beavers does it take to make such huge wood?? Inquiring minds want to know!!

I have heard that it is mostly hardwoods in that part of Canada.

“It’s log it’s log! It’s big , it’s heavy, it’s wood!”

Anywhere did it mention just how many beavers it took to amass such a huge wood?
