California Candidate Wants To Give Child Molesters Own Island

A fringe candidate for California governor wading into deep waters is pitching a plan to ship pedophiles to an an island unless they either promise to leave California forever or spend the rest of their lives in prison. Under the plan, they’d be shipped to Santa Rosa Island, part of the Channel Islands National Park, which is currently appreciated only by “park rangers and environmentalists” and a “waste of taxpayer money” to maintain, claims candidate Douglas Hughes. The first men to go would be pedophile cops, firefighters, forest rangers, building contractors and judges, so they could set up the island and develop a master plan for its evolution, says Hughes. Once a population is settled, the men could write their own island “constitution,” reports Curbed. They could never leave—nor bring children to their island abode. Hughes also has a plan to fight drugs. Addicts could continue as they are, buy drugs from the state at half price or enter a rehab program.
