A friend tells Reuters that Dennis Hopper has died from complications of prostate cancer. The 74-year-old, who made his name by starring in and directing the 1969 cult hit Easy Rider, died this morning at his home in Venice, California. As his illness progressed, Hopper had unfortunately become embroiled in a nasty divorce fight that pitted his daughter against his wife.

King Koopa is the first recollection I have of him, in the Super Mario’s brothers movie. Ok I was a child in the early 90s what did I know? The important thing is what I have learned or something. The Crash series, based on the movie, has been a good show.

Hey my daddy took me too. We played the video game nearly everyday and I was so very excited about seeing the real Mario, or what I thought would be the real Mario and Luigi. What did I know, I was like 11 maybe 12 when it released. Dad’s are always good for going to the movies with for things like this.

That’s funny Jess. Well you’re the same age as my big girl. I’d always tell the girls we had to go to the hardware store or something boring like that, then I’d pull up in the parking lot of the theater and they’d go from bored to excited. Then we’d buy candy at Lucky’s next door to the movies.

I saw him in a flick called The American Friend, had some of the menace of his character in Blue Velvet. His contribution to whatever film he was in was always memorable. Yeah RIP.

He is one of my favorites as well! From the westerns like true grit to the….indescribable reporter in Apocalypse Now. Even liked him in WaterWorld.

Didn’t much care for him in Blue Velvet.

Holte…found this site for reviews of B MOVIES. Good read

I hate cancer with a passion. So sad for his little daughter and family.

Easy Rider was an iconic film for me, far out man. I remember seeing Hopper in two out the three movies James Dean made, “Giant” and “Rebel Without A Cause” he also appeared in “Cool Hand Luke”, and the John Wayne movies “The Sons Of Katy Elder” and “True Grit” and Coppola’s unforgettable “Apocalypse Now.” He might have been ‘difficult’ in real life, but I liked his movies.

He had a very dynamic life, up to the very end. Reminded me in some ways like Hunter S.
