Failure To Brush Teeth Can Cause Heart Disease
Not brushing can give you furry arteries as well as furry teeth, according to Scottish researchers. Their study of 1,100 adults found that those who didn’t take care of their teeth were 70% more likely to suffer heart trouble who brushed their teeth twice a day, the BBC reports. The researchers say the inflammation of the gums caused by poor oral hygiene can contribute to clogged arteries. “Compared to things like smoking and poor diet, which are obviously the main risk factors for heart disease, we are not claiming this is in the same league,” the lead researcher tells Reuters. But “even after controlling for all those things there is a still a relationship between this very simple measure of tooth brushing and heart condition.

If I tried to clean my cat’s teeth, I would have to have her declawed first.
I stuff mine in my lap, sitting on their paws when I brush theirs. I have three of them that will sit and love to get the teeth brushed as long as I keep them trapped. My other one, (my problem child ) I have to chase that little butthead around to get him to sit still long enough.
LOL!
Hubby calls me the human pretzel when I brush their fangs, because of the contortions I have to go through to get them just right in my lap. Gotta keep them clean, otherwise ” why do they have cat food breath auntie J”. That is from my little niece when she gets close to them.
Bathtime is a treat compared to the teeth brushing for my two who have been here forever. The feral ones will sit at the edge still, but I do clean them with a face towel until they decide they are comfy enough with bath time. I am going to be the person you hear about, that dies with cats surrounding her, crazy cat woman. I got this from a friend a couple years ago, says it all.

The same rule applies to your animals. If they won’t let you brush their teeth give them Greenies and similar products. In all cases you should have their teeth professionally cleaned at least once a year.
