Ours are Crazier than Yours: Randy Brogdon for Governor of Oklahoma

Read Time:2 Minute, 58 Second

Here in the heart land, Oklahoma Senate Republican/teabagger, Randy Brogdon is vying for the governor’s mansion. Randy could be described as a Michele Bachmann in drag, and with an Okie accent. He hails from an almost all white suburb of Tulsa, and, while running for governor, has introduced legislation that would make it possible to purchase a gun without a background check, proposed that legislation be drafted to enact a state sponsored militia, and sponsored legislation that would authorize the state to sue the federal government to defeat “Obama care.”

The gun bill would exempt gun dealers from being required to do federally required back ground checks on gun purchases by Oklahoma residents of guns manufactured in Oklahoma. Law enforcement is understandably not in favor of the measure, because, guess what, everyone could then buy a gun so long as you live in Oklahoma. I believe their are a few members of a few less than lawful gangs that might be voting for Brogdon for this reason alone.

In the AP article cited above, Brogdon was quoted as saying, with regard to a state militia, “Is a state militia a good idea? It probably is. Because it, again, it would just reinforce the, the attitude and the belief that you and I have the right to keep and bear arms and to provide and protect our families from an overreaching federal government. I think it’s a great idea.”

Even though the health care legislation recently passed by Congress, and signed into law by President Obama, is mostly the same alternative legislation first proposed by Republicans in reaction to Clinton’s nationalized health care bill, Brogdon claims that “Obama Care,” as he is fond of putting it, will destroy the free market and socialize medicine. No, the dreaded “s” word. In the linked article above, Brogdon is quoted, saying that the measure to authorize suit of the federal government in an attempt to overturn the health care bill, “…would prevent the federal government from forcing any Oklahoman to participate in any health-care system. It would also prohibit the federal government from dictating how doctors choose to care for their patients.” And since our reasonable attorney general flat declined to sue the federal government because it would be a complete waste of state resources, Brogdon added, “…[T]he measure authorizes the leaders of the Legislature to hire outside counsel to represent Oklahoma in a lawsuit to prevent ‘Obamacare’ from being forced on our state.”

The Tulsa World got at the essence of our Randy in a report it published in early April of this year.

A massive federal debt, millions of illegal aliens, moral decline and continuous assaults on individual liberty are placing the American way of life at risk, gubernatorial candidate Randy Brogdon told fellow Republicans Tuesday.

Although he’s an announced candidate for governor, Brogdon’s talk seemed aimed at capitalizing on the unpopularity of Congress and President Obama. It was peppered with religious and Biblical references. He likened his race to the wall building around Jerusalem. One 87-year-old retired pastor in the audience let out a few “Amens” to accentuate the senator’s thoughts.

He repeated his call for Oklahoma to reduce ties to Washington. Free enterprise, not government bailouts and stimulus funds, should be responsible for creating jobs, he said.

He described himself as “about as ordinary a guy as you will ever meet. Historically, we elect career politicians and trial attorneys. I’m neither. I’m a heat and air guy from Owasso, Oklahoma.”

I think Randy’s been huffing a little too much freon.

The best way to deal with moral decline is, of course, a hollow point in the chest.

Didn’t governor wanna-be Brogdon pay attention to the wrath of God hail storms over Oklahoma this past week? It will soon be pillar of salt time for the pretend moralists in the Sooner state, it will be an ill wind that comes sweeping down this plains, which, by the way, would make Oklahoma a prime candidate for wind farms?

WTH is in the water at our education facilities that allows people like this to leave them? No answer needed, we have our own crackpots here in California too.

He is one loopy dog! Why do they seem to be so popular here in the “Sooner” State?

Why is the big stand that they always make is for unlimited gun ownership? I do not understand that one bit!!

They don’t complain about having to take a driving test or having to get a drivers license? But when it comes to their guns, stay away, don’t you dare have any rules. What the hell is it??

Surely they don’t think that the only thing between their perceived evil government takeover and them is their deer rifle? Maybe in 1776 that would have worked! But if they think that would make a valid stand, they watched the movie “Wolverines” way too many times.

Good post and nice “Oklahoma” poster Lawyer!

Look at the guy’s picture. He’s obviously a Klingon!

I believe their are a few members of a few less than lawful gangs that might be voting for Brogdon for this reason alone.

And once they get their guns, they can join that militia to get training. Well, at least he’s bringing new voters in to the system.
