Look at this latest Gallup Poll. We have so many issues confronting us as a nation and as part of the human race, things which keep us awake at night. Global warming. Healthcare costs spiraling out of control. War. And yet the idiots, the morons, the Walmart shopping ringding eating soda swigging Jerry Springer watching ass scratching jug eared inbred dumbass American public thinks Federal Debt is the biggest issue confronting us. Immigration’s right up there with them too.
Federal debt is NOT an issue. The Federal debt is rising because a housing bubble popped among other things, unemployment is high thus Automatic Stabilizers have caused the deficit to balloon. Unemployment insurance and lower tax revenue. The private sector has three times the debt of the government. The Federal government MUST spend to spur demand, otherwise the gap between the goods and services we produce will widen and we will sink into a deeper recession. The deficit will INCREASE if we cut federal spending right now. Yet the constant talk of the deficit and balancing the federal budget coming from the Main Stream Media and the President and both political parties has convinced the bulk of the American people that we must cut spending. Guess where?
Social Security. I guarantee Obama’s Deficit Commission is gonna push that come November when they deliver their recommendations. Because the Walmart shopping ringding eating soda swigging Jerry Springer watching ass scratching jug eared inbred dumbass American public has bought the story. Hook line and sinker.

I semi-agree with Bob’s working-class comment in that I would say that such dumbassery extends to many middle- and upper-class yokels as well. Plenty of those well-off (by “working class” standards) who are fucking stupid, purposely ignorant and frankly, by their greater access to knowledge, should know better. I guess I just think the entire country is stupid.
Also, I’m very much in favor of slashing the fuck out of spending if it’s directed at the Pentagon and their various pet projects and nebulous & bullshit freedom defense of freedom garbage from freedom haters.
It would be darned hard for me to disagree more with virtually everything you’ve written here.
Is the Federal Debt our largest problem? Perhaps not, but the drain on our economy just servicing the debt is nothing short of crippling. But, as bad as it is today (while most inside our government are still happily ignoring it), it will be devestating in just 5 short years. Money that can and should go to health care, to environmental safeguards, education and care for our elderly will ALL go toward servicing the debt.
If interest rates rise, the country will rapidly slip into receivership, unable to meet even the most basic of obligations.
I’m not going to bother commenting on your views on the working class in our society (i.e. the Walmart shopping ringding eating soda swigging Jerry Springer watching ass scratching jug eared inbred dumbass American public), except to say these people are my friends and you couldn’t possibly be more clueless. They are bright, hard working and would give you the shirt off their backs.
