‘World’s Ugliest Dog’ Dead at 17

Miss Ellie, a small, bug-eyed Chinese Crested Hairless dog whose pimples and lolling tongue helped her win Animal Planet’s “World’s Ugliest Dog” contest in 2009, died according to reports on Thursday.
She appeared on TV’s Animal Planet cable show “Dogs 101” and was on billboards and in a commercial.
Pigeon Forge Mayor Keith Whaley proclaimed November 12 as “Miss Ellie Day” for her owner’s efforts to raise money for the local humane society. Over the years, Ellie helped raise more than $100,000 for the Sevier County Humane Society.
Miss Ellie will be sorely missed by her many friends and fans all over the world. She was a real Superstar and her ‘different’ looks were a genuine endearment. She will be cremated.

I love Chinese Crested Hairless dogs and don’t think Ellie was ugly at all. What a champ she was.

That precious creature is nowhere near as ugly as some of the more recent winners- they are scary, not “so ugly they’re cute”. 100k is a lot to raise for charity!
