Republicans suck at golf and economics

Read Time:1 Minute, 56 Second

A Republican was teasing me at the golf course today.  Nothing new.  The golf course is full of Republicans that delude themselves that they can break 90 and that Republicans have good ideas.

This particular one told me Reagan would go down as one of our greatest presidents. I asked him what’s so great about supply side Reaganomics leading to crippling debt? As well as the totally imbalanced distribution of our Nation’s wealth in favor of the wealthiest?

The first Republican was at a loss for words because he was a day and a half removed from his last Glenn Beck lesson. Another Republican said “Tear down this wall!” As if that’s what made him think Reagan was great. I told him I wrote a letter to Leonid Brezhnev asking him to tear down the Berlin Wall in 1972. “Does that mean I should get my head on Mt. Rushmore?”

They finally gave up because they knew no matter what Rush Limbaugh said, their nonsense can never defeat a Liberal in reasonable debate.

They thought they would get the best of me after the round though. I won a load of money on side bets from them so they made me buy a couple pitchers of beer. They were insisting on some foreign nonsense because they knew I’d buy Union brewed beer. Republicans hate Unions because Union wages enable Union members to afford to play golf and beat republicans at a rich person’s game.

The Republicans weren’t going to drink the good American Union beer at first. Then I told them I had to put it on the credit card so it was kosher with Republican beliefs about spending and borrowing. Withing three minutes the two pitchers were empty and the republicans were insisting I go charge some more beer. I told them that would be irresponsible (The DUI thing as well as buying beer I couldn’t pay for) so one of the Republicans whipped out his VISA and ordered up two more pitchers. This time it was Heineken at three times the cost of Miller Lite.

As I was helping them finish off the Heineken I asked them if they needed me to donate. They said “No. The economy will improve when the Republicans take control again and we can then pay down our credit cards.”

It doesn’t matter what Reagan stood for or against. The righties would just rewrite history as they want to hear it anyway. Until they can get the “Teddy the trustbuster” reference purged from history books they will be forced to hate him.

They’re working on that in Texas right now.

Did you know hald of the Rough Riders road Triceratopses up San Juan Hill?

They worship him like he was a deity. Not much sense in it considering that by today’s standards he would be far too moderate to be a Republican in good standing.

I can’t figure out the Reagan hero worship. They have actually talked of putting his image on Mt Rushmore. Crazy!!

Maybe they can get the Rushmore project funded by secretly selling missiles to some country like North Korea.

And to give Reagan credit for the Berlin Wall??? He deserves about as much credit as David Hasselhoff. Truth be told, the Soviet Union imploded from within. Reagan may have hastened that implosion by a couple of days or so.

Picking my hero’s between Gorbachev and Reagan, I would pick Gorbachev. Simply because he had the courage to say enough is enough in the Nuclear Arms Race.

Just like our country, he had war-mongers as well that he had to fight. But he had the conviction to fight the established complex and say this is it, no more.

One of my favorite incidents is when at a political dinner in Washington, Gorbachev was shaking hands of all attending.

But he refuse to shake the hand of Edward Teller. His comment to Reagan when he refused …”In my country, we also have men such as him.”
