The Mad Republican Tea Party (video)
Politics continue to heat up in America as the Tea Bagger movement expands its base of frustrated Americans fed up with big government. This largely conservative group protests increased government spending and the growing deficit. The majority of them are dumb as posts.
Tea Bagger supporters also think the government’s growing involvement in business and individual freedoms is pulling America away from the conservative values upon which it was formed. If you’re not familiar with the Tea Baggers, here are a few of the basics of who the supporters are and what they believe.
Described by The Economist as “America’s most vibrant political force,” the Tea Party is a populist movement that promotes three values:
Fiscal responsibility
*
Limited government
*
Free market
The movement’s name is a reference to the Boston Tea Party of 1773, when American colonists aggravated with the British government’s taxation
boarded British ships and tossed tea — a highly valuable commodity at the time — into the Boston Harbor.
Similarly, today’s Tea Party supporters protest what they believe to be irresponsible financial policies being practiced by the U.S. federal government.
