Barack Obama = Affirmative Action

Read Time:29 Second

In the past two weeks this President, whom so many within his own party have chosen to label a weakling, or gutless or ineffective or worse than Bush, has guaranteed an extension in unemployment benefits, extended the tax cut to the middle class for two years, signed the most comprehensive overhaul of food inspection in more than a generation, got the START treaty through Congress, got the aid for 9/11 first responders approved and this afternoon put his signature on a bill to end DADT. And that is all I have to say about that.

Thank you JM. OMG you sound like my mother, I have only one thing to say and then she would stop to catch a breath. It typically meant, I had screwed up and that one thing turned into a 3 hour lecture beginning with Jessica Marie,(when they use the full name it is bad, especially when you are an only kid, because they remember you) the rest I would often tune out and nod my head once in a while so she knew I was listening. 🙂

Know what’s really strange Mike? I’m seeing this comment and thinking OMG, she is totally describing my mom right to using Jessica Marie and wondering, why is a person named Laurie saying her mom uses Jessica Marie.

I think she was going to add to the message I left that is posted Dec 23 at 1:42. So my mother and your mother are/were alike. I feel bad for you. My mother was mini Hitler in our home, behind her back of course, or I would get the idiot tap to the back of the head when I did the arm raising. Dad would get it too, because he encouraged my behavior. I think that may have been her Japanese upbringing to be very strict.

Dear Mike 😉
Now see, you just brought something up that I may have been wrong about, the certification process is maybe where I am digging my heels in as far as this is not really repeal. I’m willing to change my mind about that, when I see the reports of that process being all done and over with. *sniff* you missed my dear Jessica greeting and a lovely end of your note. Pretty soon it will be J and bye. It will make me cry and you don’t want that on your conscience do you? Also, I will attack whether or not a person is a scholar, so don’t feel bad you eleetist edjuaktid librul.

Love Jess

Oh you can call me that. Hubby calls me that, my aunts, bestie and everyone will call me that. I tell them all the time, pretty soon you guys will have it to a grunt and I’ll still answer them. Starts with Jessica(which I like, don’t get me wrong) goes to Jess(which I love) then it’s just, hey J blah blah.

My Dearest, Dearest Michael,

The policy can be changed as far as the military goes at any time according to many of the reports I have seen. Now in the event I may be incorrect, shocking as it might seem, I can be mistaken I will totally eat my words. I will not cast aspersions at you in any way, you godless English cracker. I couldn’t find a slang for English I wanted to use :).
No, not insulted at all, just trying to get both sides of the issue out in the open, maybe I am seeing things wrong. I wish I could find the article that showed what I am talking about. Here was part of it.

“The policy remains in place until the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff certify that repeal will not harm military readiness, followed by a 60-day waiting period.”

here is another article I had been forwarded. To me, this says, now I may be wrong, they could drag this out indefinitely because of the whole, we need to make sure it is consistent with military readiness, blabbity blah excuses for lagging.

http://www.metroweekly.com/news/?ak=5874

Next pres with a republican leading government can come in and repeal the repeal using the same actors, prez Sec of Def and CoJCOS in our Kabuki show right now, using the whole, our military needs to be excised of LGBT because of(insert bogus excuse here). It’s not done till the fat lady sings about it. I am way happy it has come this far but it’s not all the way done quite yet. Not with all the oversight hearings, the republicans want to conduct next year on this policy.

Love you,
Jessica Marie

Now for the airing of grievances, dammit all to hell, I got nothing to be mad about and all things to be happy about. I’ll have to go find something and get back to that later.

LOL…OK Jessica Marie I give up but you would be wrong on the repeal of the repeal. The DADT law has been repealed by the United states Congress and signed by the president. The only thing that is left is the “certification” that is realistically controlled by the president despite protestations to the contrary by the joint chiefs, and etc. I would almost guarantee that this “certification” will come quickly. Of course from time to time I have been wrong. I would hate to be attacked for being a scholar or some such shit 🙂 🙂

Go placidly amid the noise and haste and etc. 🙂 🙂

Dear Jessica,

My lawyer friend, a gay man (not that there is anything wrong with that) tells me that the law has been repealed and all else is procedural. He knows these things not simply because he is a lawyer but more because of his gayness. He is a member of all those rainbow coalition thingies and is like a super honcho who spends most of his time in DC. I actually asked him specifically about the DADT thing when it went down because my concerns were yours. He said there is no way it can be derailed now that the votes have been counted.

Thank you for your time and your rant.

Michael J. Scott

Note: I am being super polite because so many are so sensitive and cranky and I wish they wouldn’t be because like you said they are making baby Jesus cry and that just isn’t right 🙂

Go in peace 🙂

🙂 Dearest Michael,

Might I suggest your lawyer friend look into the fact that this policy will not be taking effect, till all the hearings and all the policies are done and written down. It could be as little as 60 days or more depending on the committe hearings to change the policy. The next president can change this policy, if s/he wanted to, prohibit LGBs from serving.
Thank you so much for this extremely manner filled and polite conversation. It’s such a treat to find civilized discussion these days 😉 We don’t want the baby Jesus to cry before all the birthday presents are given. I think it would make me sad too.

You’re beginning to sound religiousy with the go in peace stuff.

🙂 Obama 2012, unless I get a burr up my butt and lodge a protest vote.

Dear Jessica,

Forgive me for missing one of your most astute observations but the next president (or this one for that matter) cannot reinstate DADT. Only Congress can do that.

I say this with all due respect and the hope that you will not cast aspersions on my race (caucasian), my creed (Atheist), or my heritage (English).

In conclusion allow me to say that since I don’t hear the whining tones of the Baby Jesus may I assume you are in no way, shape or form insulted?

With great thanks and best wishes for Festivus, I remain,

Your faithful servant,

Michael J. Scott

Ok here is as promised my hate filled reply. Not really, just some things about the policies that are not being spoken about. See, the 9-11 bill, DADT as just two examples. Coburn from (Oklahoma) you poor bastards, managed to get funding taken out of there at last minute to “compromise” with the White House. DADT is another thing too, this was NOT repeal by any stretch of the imagination. This was to start the conversation to change military policy, regarding LGBTs serving in the military between the Prez, Sec of Def and the joint chiefs. It is not over by a long shot, there are going to be hearings conducted by our new conservative overlords, when they get seated along with McCain, Yertle and drama queen Graham, to try and stop this change in the policy. Which by the way a new president can come in and change at the drop of a hat unless the language says no, which it does not at this time. This is just a starting off point for repeal, not total repeal and I wish people would see it for what it is, separate but equal still.

End of hate filled rant. Now, I challenge anyone here to find anything hateful in this reply I have made. If you can find anything hateful, I will donate to the cause of your choice. Just because I am a supporter that critizes my president and his administration, does not mean I don’t support what he is trying to do, it means I don’t like what he is doing and I can be critical if I so choose. That is what makes me a good citizen, not sitting back and taking crumbs that are offered. I want more for my country and the people here than is being doled out by the powers that be.

Very well put MyCue. Had you said more, it would have meant less. I agree with everything you said, and I am also proud of my president. He has done amazing things. If not for the continuing war, and the tax compromise that I agree was required, he would be my hero. As it is, when I am not criticizing him, I am showering him with praise. I don’t think anyone else that I know of could have done better and I am certain others could have done much worse. I expected miracles, but it turns out, he is not that kind of Savoir. He may end up saving me, nevertheless.

Actually Richard I know for a fact that Krell at least, and I suspect Gwen Oso and Tim as well ALL voted for Obama, and not just because he wasn’t McCain.

As far as I am concerned, this gives them bitching rights when PO caves to pressure from corporations. Most of the beneficiaries of his policy are not people like you and me, but the very wealthy. No one here thinks for one second that he is more to blame than the Republicans, but he has not proven himself to be the fighter we had hoped for.

If you think you know their personalities well enough to comment that the panelists here never wanted Obama to succeed just demonstrates that you have not been reading as carefully as you should have before spouting off with such sanctimonious crap.

There is no one on this board who isn’t going to be thrilled at the news that DADT ended, or that benefits for 9/11 responders are once again on the table.

There is no one here who is deluded or masochistic enough to ever vote for a Republican or a Teabagger candidate.

Far from being a mutual masturbation society for happy things the president does, we will criticize anyone in the highest office whose policy decisions fail to help the regular guy. Believe me the complaining was louder when GWBrainless was in office, but this blog wasn’t around then.

The president has indeed done a fine job Michael. While he hasn’t been able to deliver everything he has done more in his first two years than any president in history. I’m damn proud of him!

Well said and well written My Cue. I have followed this blog for a long time and have learned the personalities. I am not at all surprised that the Obama haters like Oso, Krell, and Gwendolyn Holden Barry, not to mention Tim, One Fly et al are not commenting. People like this never wanted the president to succeed. All they wanted to do was complain. Now there is less reason to do so but I have little doubt that in the next two years they will have plenty of reason to support the republican cause.

Richard-I do not call out by name or chastise others who post here by invitation of the owners of this site if I don’t agree. You do not have a clue where I am really coming from and besides it’s my opinion just like yours.

If things were going so well this country would not be in such dire straights as they say.

I won’t say what I really want to so a kiss my ass will have to do.

As one of the more prolific commenters, I am hurt, yes hurt and saddened by my exclusion on the list of Obama haters, even though I don’t hate the man. I don’t like some of his administration’s policy decisions.

Now in the future it is Jess or Jessica, so you can keep up with the list of names. Thank you so much for you cooperation in this matter. I don’t want to be overlooked again, it makes me and the baby Jesus cry, real tears even.

I’ll be leaving my hate filled reply to the post itself, in a new message so I don’t go off into a rant.

slight update: I missed this gem the first time, as far as not commenting. We may not have been commenting because some of us are still in bed(ok well me) I am lazy when I am on school break and not working. Ok, I must face it, I’m just lazy and I don’t comment right away.
