But what’s bad is every hospital has residency that are putting in extreme hours, 36+ hour shifts with 8 to 12 hours of sleep for a 100+ hour week. It has become sort of a bonus low cost labor pool for some hospitals.
These residents are suppose to have a supervising Doctor observing their decisions but….
I know plenty of lawyers that like to brag about how little they sleep. I think they are idiots. That’s like bragging that you don’t bathe regularly. In college, and especially law school, I knew many fellow students that regularly pulled all-nighters. I never did once. Give me eight hours per night of sleep, or give me death.
I used to work in the newspaper world and sometimes 8 eight hours sleep or even 5, was hard to come by, those who pride themselves on their ability to go without sleep and say they still function, are kidding themselves.
