Jess, I commend you for acting like a lady. I don’t ‘know’ you either… I’ve noticed that generally speaking, I agree with your points on issues. You conduct yourself as a lady. There is everything right with that and I think there is value in it. It’s just, to my senses, unladylike to use the “c” word… guess I’m a bit of prude, I wince when I hear it.
I agree that Howard made a huge point, one I agree with it.
My younger room-mate feels that since the Virgina Monologues, the word has actually been reclaimed by feminism. She is somewhat desensitized to it… but not completely, and she thinks that Howard used it to great effect.
The central issue surrounding this whole or complete issue is how words do have power….
isn’t it?
Excellent…….You go Howard! 🙂
Been ages since I’ve listened to Howard, but that was one truly awesome rant he gave on Palin.
I’ve only been listening to him for about five years, when he went to satellite radio. Now he and his gang has become family. I agree this was one helluva rant. Thanks by the way for stopping by.
Funny, Michael, I wrote a “post” that I did not post last week. It compared this site to the Howard Stern radio show (indirectly). Just funny that after I wrote this post, this comes up and you mention the “family” aspect.
Stern reminds me of Palin’s outrage at David Letterman’s comments about her daughter at the New York Yankees game. Anything said about her or hers is wrong and must immediately be apologized for. Maybe she is actually a mad momma grizzly with rabies, i.e., not longer capable of rational thought. I hate to euthanize animals but sometimes it is necessary.
I couldn’t agree more my friend.
I am an unabashed Stern fan, and listen daily. I can’t believe I missed this rant. Thanks Tee. I will listen for the replay.
Mr. Stern makes a very good point, I agree with him 100%.

Ugh, that’s the word my friend used last night and I am not fond of it at all. There are plenty of other words to describe this screeching harpie, without resorting to that word which demeans women. Other than that, I agree with him on what she is all about.
“Cunt” is the female equivalent of calling a guy a dick. If you’re going to get all crazy over that word then you pretty much have to extend it to all sex orientated swear words or you’re just a hypocrite. Ease the fuck up about it, it’s just a swear word, you dumb cunt.
I know Martin, I’m just saying I am not fond of the word at all and there are more can be used to describe her, without resorting to that one. I don’t think I said he shouldn’t have used it, or I was upset he used it. In fact I clearly said, other than just that one word, I totally agreed with Howard. The fact that you chose to call me out on what a swear word is, is quite funny, since I am known to drop them once in a while. Also, calling me names my man, says more about you than it does me, I’m just sayin.
You said it’s a “word which demeans women”. I see your comment as more bullshit pseudo feminism that characterizes the movement today. Women are not special, they can be called cunts just like calling a guy a dick is perfectly acceptable. Jesus, you’re acting like you’re offended because he could have used a more descriptive word or something? You use swear words but you have a problem with “cunt”? Listen to yourself.
You’re a dumb cunt with a misplaced sense of what it is to be a feminist and I’m an asshole who enjoys hassling people on the internet, I am fine with that. “just sayin”
I stand by that, when I say it demeans women Martin. Did I say anywhere, that I was offended or I needed to clutch pearls and find a fainting couch to sink into because of the use of the word? Have you read into my words, to see that I think women are special in any way? If I did, please point it out to me, because I really don’t recall saying I was offended, or women are dainty little creatures that should be shielded or sheltered because they are special in some way. I said quite clearly, I, this is me talking now, I don’t like that word myself. I did not say he should not have used it, I did not say I was upset he used it, in any of my reply to either the article or your reply to me. There are many things I do and have problems with others, what does one have to do with the other?
You are reading far too much into my reply and putting words in my mouth I have not spoken when you say, “Jesus, you’re acting like you’re offended because he could have used a more descriptive word or something?” I said there are plenty of other words could have been used, I did not then suggest he should have used them did I?
You know nothing about me, to suggest I might be a feminist or not do you? Or do you have some valuable insight into the online psyche, the rest of us should emulate? As far as your being “an asshole on the internet, that enjoys hassling people and being fine with that”, well keep on keeping on with that. You seem to think you do it quite well it appears.
The very act of posting something on the internet is a way to influence people, that’s what we call a “comment”.
You’re not saying you’re offended and it shouldn’t be used, but you’re posting about it on the internet and passing along the idea that it “demeans women”. I really do not see the difference. It must be nice to say something stupid and then use some retarded logic to completely divorce yourself from the statement afterwards.
Let me try:
The word “dick”, in the pejorative, is demeaning to men. I’m not saying don’t use it, or that I am offended, I’m just taking the time to post about it on the internet, just because. I want to make a statement without having any responsibility for it, because it’s just my opinion, man. God forbid anyone should call me out on how dumb of a thing it was to post on the internet, or make me back up the statement, or even attribute the statement to myself. I’m just throwing some retarded bullshit out there, it’s not my fault if another retard comes by, reads it and further reinforces the retarded idea, spreading it across our culture like a virus.
“I said there are plenty of other words could have been used, I did not then suggest he should have used them did I?”
-So you’re saying something in a public forum without actually saying it, sounds like Palin and the rest of the tea baggers. When they spread stupid ideas like “second amendment solutions” they’re not SAYING that they should be used…you know…they’re just sayin’, god forbid anyone should actually take away anything from what comes out of their mouths or even attribute it to them.
Go ahead and keep playing the part of the victim though, it suits you.
Well handled Jess, there is nothing dumb about you.
Jess, I think Stern’s use of the word “cunt” does not demean women in general so much as it demeans Palin in particular. And good for him. If you can swear that well, I would love to watch the entire Deadwood series with you.
Martin, that’s the best you can do? Your comment suggests that perhaps one engaged such rhetoric should use more sublime verbiage when addressing their betters.
For the life of me I will never understand why HBO canceled Deadwood. It was one of the better series on television, and those cowboys knew how to call a “whore” a “cunt.” In those days it was just a word. In these days I don’t use it, but “might” when referring to The Palin, but probably not publicly like they did in the old days.
I got that he was referring to her, really I did Stella. I personally just don’t like the word, I don’t use it and don’t really care if others do, all that choice thing and live and let live I’m into. I just was saying, for me, there are other words he could have used, but that’s not my call, I’m not Howard Stern and I don’t have a radio show. I agreed with everything he said, except using that one word. I’ve never watched Deadwood, no idea what it is, but ok I’ll watch if we get a chance to.
wow, smart guy! I love the Palin bashing, she so deserves it!
I’m not an unabashed Stern fan, but I do approve this message.
