It’s Football People! Get Your Priorities Straight

Read Time:2 Minute, 2 Second

Going through the articles at MadMike’s the last couple days has made me question the priorities of many of our contributors and commenters.  While articles on health insurance and republican threats to shut down the government because they hate the idea of everyone having health insurance, are fine. Or even more important articles like the guy who got killed by his own cock or Todd Palin visiting a prostitute. (Maybe he was just tired of Sarah demanding more (naughty bit) and less government. Sometimes a guy just wants a little “piece” and quiet).

What struck me as odd given the love of America we all share here at MadMike’s is I only saw one article from Holte about football.   All I can say is what the hell is the matter with you people?!?

Football!  The Packers vs. The Bears. The Steelers vs. The Jets. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Any legislation that comes from Washington pales in comparison to the wonderfulness of a good NFL game. And the two games this weekend could be epics. Great football heals the Nation. There is nothing more patriotic. Sorry to break the news to baseball fans but Football is the National Pastime. As it should be.

Earlier this year I picked the Packers and Steelers to be in the Super Bowl. Not that I’m gloating. Heh heh heh. But even if they don’t make who cares. These four teams all deserve to be there. I look forward to how Jets coach Rex Ryan deals with Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger. Manning and Brady were intimidated by the Jets defense. Under pressure they both dropped to their knees rather than take the hits. Big  Ben isn’t afraid of the hits. Without the intimidation factor what will Rex do. I’m sure he’ll come up with something because over the last two weeks against the Colts and Patriots, Rex Ryan proved he could coach.

I’m still not so sure about Bears coach Lovie Smith. The Bears are inferior to the Packers at just about every position. Jay Cutler will have to play the game of his life for the Bears to win. Lovie’s tendency to coach not to lose can keep a game close but it also means the other team is always in the game as well. And Packer’s QB Aaron Rogers is playing better than anyone.

I stand by my earlier picks. Packers vs. Steelers in this year’s Super Bowl.

I’m pulling for the New York Sanchez’s in two upsets.

Seeing as how short the football season is, there is no way in hell it will ever be considered the national past time. Baseball and NASCAR run longer.

But that said, I do love both football and baseball and I have no picks for either games this week as all my teams have been eliminated. My only wish is for good football and perhaps an overtime game or two.

I agree with this. I don’t know why there were so many stories about baseball. This is football time and the peak of football time and I’m a Bears fan so let’s see what shakes out.

I agree Joe. Although I am not sure anyone will survive the Jets Steelers game to get to the Super Bowl. Maybe the cheerleaders will play.

Hey Joe – I have done TWO football posts in the past few days. I am with you on a Packers v Steelers Superbowl, but I have been wrong on most games so far this playoff season. The only one I got right was Ravens v. Chiefs and I wanted the Chiefs to win real bad. Enjoy the games.
