Romantic love “not suitable” for Muslims

Read Time:1 Minute, 25 Second

Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy in Southeast Asia. It consists of thirteen states and three federal territories and has a total landmass of 127,350 square miles. Land borders are shared with Thailand, Indonesia, and Brunei, and maritime borders exist with Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The population as of 2010 stood at over 28.25 million.

The Malaysian constitution guarantees freedom of religion and makes Islam the official religion. According to the Population and Housing Census 2000 figures, approximately 60.4% of the population practiced Islam of which only the Sunni branch is allowed; 19.2% Buddhism; 9.1% Christianity; 6.3% Hinduism; and 2.6% practice Confucianism, Taoism and other traditional Chinese religions. The remainder was accounted for by other faiths, including animism, folk religion, and Sikhism while 0.8% either reported having no religion or did not provide any information.

To combat young people expressing their feelings on February 14, Malaysia has stepped up a campaign to stop Muslims celebrating Valentine’s Day – labeling it a “trap” that could encourage immoral behavior. Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said Monday’s celebration of romantic love was “not suitable” for Muslims.

The anti-Valentine’s Day campaign by the country’s Islamic authorities goes back to a fatwa issued in 2005. Leaflets have been distributed to Muslim university students urging them to avoid Monday’s celebration.

The government-run Department of Islamic Development, which handles religious policies, has launched a publicity campaign called “Mind the Valentine’s Day Trap”. But not all Malaysian Muslims agree with the campaign, with some saying Valentine’s Day is harmless.

Other faiths are not affected by the boycott.

It seems to me that in order to be a Muslim that you have to be brain damaged in some way.

Not for nothing, but there are a whole 364 other days for the loving. Valentine’s is a scam to get people(mainly men) out there buying gifts and doodads to show how much they love you.

Hell, wash my dishes, clean the toilets that goes further than giving me a box of chocolates you’ll end up eating anyhow, since you got me the ones I don’t like.

To combat all that Valentine’s kissing, maybe they should declare Feb. 14 Masturbation Day.

Where have you been? May 28th is already Masturbation day. If I am not mistaken, I even made a comment last year about it since it fell on some public prayer things at the same time.

Knew about that. Didn’t know it is Masturbation Day in Thailand. Do you know that to be the case?

Urban legend has it, the whole month is masturbation month here in the good ole USA and the 28th just brings it all to a climactic end. Hehe see what I did there?
