South Dakota tables bill aimed at legalizing murder of abortion doctors
Thanks to a public outcry, South Dakota has indefinitely shelved a bill that would have essentially made it legal to kill an abortion provider. South Dakota’s House speaker said lawmakers were still deciding whether to vote on the bill (which would expand the definition of “justifiable homicide” to include killing someone in defense of a fetus) as is, change its language, or drop it entirely. “Clearly the bill as it’s currently written is a very bad idea,” a spokesman for the governor tells the New York Times.
