The unforgettable Diana Ross on Oprah!

Read Time:1 Minute, 18 Second

Diana Ross made her much-anticipated appearance on Friday’s (Feb. 25) episode of “The Oprah Show” and brought the house down. And in true final season flavor, Oprah Winfrey took it up a notch with all of Ross’ kids joining, a reunion, some tearful confessions and a performance showing Miss Ross is still quite the entertainer.

Ross brought all five of her kids, including “Girlfriends” star, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Evan Ross, who’s currently starring on The CW’s “90210.” And for the first time ever on TV, she brought along her first grandson, Raif Henok Emmanuel Kendrick, who was born in 2009.

Oprah shared how much Diana meant to her when at 10 years old she saw The Supremes perform on “The Ed Sullivan Show” in 1964. Through tears, Oprah said that seeing African American women on television literally changed her life. Probably one of the more touching confessions by Ross was when Oprah asked her when she had felt she had “made it.”

“Never,” Ross answered. “I’ve never been that confident.”

Other highlights for us? Oprah reunited Ross with Billy Dee Williams, her costar from “Lady Sings The Blues,” for which Ross was nominated for an Oscar. And of course, it was a big thrill for us when Miss Ross took the stage and sang “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” She still has it, doesn’t she?

And according to the diva, when she doesn’t have it, she’ll stop performing. “If my voice changed,” she says. “If I couldn’t sound like myself, I wouldn’t want to perform.”
