How’s that Republican wave working out for you, America?
Republicans, emboldened by what they view as a sweeping indication that the people of this country approve of their strict conservative agenda, are systematically attempting to dismantle programs and rights they see as contrary to their “values.” I can’t say I’m surprised, though I do find the scope of their attempts slightly mystifying. Don’t they realize there are elections every two years? Or maybe it’s that they do realize that…
Here are just a few examples of what Republicans are doing that are going to end up hurting their respective constituencies:
New Study Says Florida High-Speed Rail Line Would Have Been Very Profitable
Three weeks after Gov. Rick Scott put the brakes on high-speed rail, the Florida Department of Transportation on Wednesday released a study showing the line connecting Tampa to Orlando would have had a $10.2 million operating surplus in 2015, its first year of operation.
Florida bill S.B. 1246 would make it a felony to photograph farms
A bill introduced to the Florida State Senate on Tuesday by State Senator Jim Norman would make it a felony to take a picture of a farm without the owner’s permission.
Legislators seek to make embryonic stem cell research a felony
Several Minnesota Democrats joined with 31 Republicans in offering a bill Wednesday that would ban embryonic stem cell research in the state under the guise of banning “human cloning.”
Martial Law in Michigan and Republicans’ End Game
While we were venting our outrage at shenanigans in Wisconsin politics, in fact while Republicans were planning last night’s attempted coup, the Michigan state legislature quietly passed a bill giving the Governor of Michigan martial control over the state.
Of course, I didn’t even mention the recent trouble in Wisconsin.
Anyway, this is more a rant than an informative post on my part. However, it is meant to show that your vote counts; and that decisions made by some people can have profound effects on others. Keep that in mind in 2012.
I live in Florida and I can’t believe that Scott got elected. He is a criminal and a loon and he looks like a skeleton with eyes.
No pictures of farms? WTF? Rick Scott and his gang will set Florida back 50 years.
Nice one Edward, they really do think they are in office for life. If the democrats can stop bickering and argue “with” instead of “against” life will mean two years for many of them.
