Mixed race marriage should be illegal!

Read Time:2 Minute, 26 Second

How long do you think it will be before the GOP tries to pass a law, either at the federal or state level, to curb mixed race marriage?  They, in particular the Tea Baggers, have already shown an antipathy toward anything that is not “white,” as evidenced by their unbridled hatred of the president, and dozens of statements made by their loony membership.

In Mississippi for example, 46% of self-identifying Republicans said they believe marriage between interracial couples should be illegal and only 40% said it should remain legal, with the rest claiming they are unsure.

The Republicans who support banning interracial marriage are also most likely to support Sarah Palin and the gang at Fox News. Not surprisingly Mississippi Republicans would also like to see Governor Haley Barbour as their next president.

The fact is times change.  There are more immigrants today than yesterday, and despite laws such as those enacted by Arizona, there will be more tomorrow.  As America becomes more homogenous it is inevitable that people of different colors and heritage will find common ground.

Read the following from The American Prospect:

Last year the Pew Research Center released a study on marriage in the US which tells us a great deal about how the country will look in the future. In 1980, 3.2% of married couples were interracial; today, 8% are. And of new marriages, 14.6% are now interracial, a figure which has been climbing steadily for decades and is now rising faster than ever before.

Obviously this trend doesn’t indicate a political or ideological preference for interracial marriage; no one chooses a marriage partner for such reasons. It can only mean that growing numbers of people simply no longer consider race a significant factor in their choice of whom to marry. This is not only healthy but natural — look at any place in the world where populations of different races have lived among each other on the same territory for several generations, and in most cases you’ll see a sizable mixed population there too.

The marriage trend tells us that racially-mixed people will make up a fast-growing percentage of the population of this country in the future (and recall that even the current President is a person of racially-mixed origin). We are still plagued by the antiquated mentality that wants to classify people into neat, distinct racial and ethnic categories — X% of Americans are white, X% are black, X% are Hispanic, Asian, etc. That mentality will soon become so obviously unrealistic as to be untenable. Race-consciousness is doomed. Time and human nature are its ineluctable enemies.

When did race matter. Were all humans. Wolves are wolves and there are many different color of wolves and they still can breed because they are wolves. So as long as we all our human it doesn’t matter. You may not like it but people can love who they want and be who they want. Its not like were gonna marry animals.

I would like to add that I happen to be from Texas, I have sort of a Texan accent and frequently say “y’all,” support Fox News, but I am not Republican nor do I feel the need to outlaw interracial marriages, or even homosexual marriage. Just my perspective which I would like to submit for your deliberation.

Maybe it’s also an ‘age thing’?

Just saying.

I shagged a Pakistani girl (bloody gorgeous and waaay to good for me) at 16 but would I have have ever married her?…No way. (Apart from the fact her two brothers chased me down the road with machetes when they found out)

(She was bloody good in bed mind so YES it was worth the risk!!!)

I would have been ostracised…mind you I was anyway come to think of it…;-)

Would I mind my daughter with a black guy?

Yep.

Why?

Experience in England.

Most black guys over here consider white girls ‘trophies’

…Some don’t I hasten to add….

But MY girl will never be a ‘trophy’ so if she ends up with a black guy I’m cool with it – unless I ever hear the word ‘trophy’…then I’d kill the bastard without a moments hesitation.

Still…this is England.

One of my bestest ever pals is black by the way so don’t even go there…

Having said that Bruno, you’re only a year younger than me so stay the fuck away from my daughter!…;-)

You can’t have a “melting pot” and freedom without this happening. Anyone that actually cares enough about this issue to raise a stink is clearly un-American and doesn’t want freedom at all. Period.

Colors are irrelevant in a sea of humanity. 🙂

Today’s children are overall much less prejudiced than previous generations.
Yes, the deep south is very prejudiced, but there is also a lot more social mixing of the races in the south due to the fact that African-Americans are present in not just urban environments, but all over. As a result there is a lot more exposure to people of of other races and there is a lot of racial mixing that pisses off a lot of people down there, but is also generally accepted these days however grudgingly.
Now, I know I’m likely to get hit with anecdotal evidence that is contradictory to my statements by your estute readers, but please not my qualifiers of “overall” and “generally.”
I live in the south and know how things are here, but I’ve also lived in the north and realize that it’s not the bastion of tolerance and acceptance that some people in the north would like to make it out to be.

Racial bias is deeply ingrained in the deep south, and it has been for many years. I don’t see that changing anytime soon. It is not only in the deep south where people are opposed to mixed marriages. Even those who claim they are not racist are quietly opposed to inter-racial marriages.

I’m not a bit surprised about the Mississippi news and I’ll bet if you poll parts of the Deep South and some places in the UK you’ll get the same result. Shocking in 2011!

The greater level of heterogeneous genetics the better looking a person becomes. The more “mixed” ethnicity you get, the more attractive. It works for any race or culture. Look at any “pure” blooded Irishman, Italian, African, Asian, Indian, then look at the variegated mutt version and there is just no comparison.

Mutts rule. I say this as one of those mutts.

Several years back I saw an photographer’s montage of what they thought Americans might look like in the year 2100. A distinct Eurasian look with a hint of Africa. The people in the future look really beautiful. That’s hybrid vigor for you.
