Tim Pawlenty to debate himself in South Carolina
Tim Pawlenty is heading to South Carolina for next week’s debate, when he gets there he will ask “where is everyone else?”. The debate has been organized for Republican candidates who have formed an exploratory committee.
“My Presidential exploratory committee will file the necessary papers and fees with the South Carolina Secretary of State next Tuesday because it’s important that Republicans show up now, talk about their records, and begin the debate on how best we can defeat this President,” Pawlenty said, not mentioning any rivals by name.
Romney and Gingrich, among other likely candidates, have not definitively said they won’t appear at next Thursday’s debate. Participants need to form a presidential exploratory committee by the end of the day Friday to be eligible.
“President Obama’s failed policies have seriously jeopardized our nation’s future and it’s time for Republicans to show leadership and engage in the battle of ideas,” Pawlenty said. “We have to stand up for America every chance we get, and I for one look forward to doing that on Thursday in South Carolina.”
As of now, Pawlenty and maybe Ron Paul are the only major names who intend on showing for the face-off, and longshots Herman Cain (who) and Buddy Roemer (again, who) may also take part.
