Man Saves His Dog Against All Odds and at Great Expense
An Australian man has been reunited with his beloved Jack Russell terrier after a rescue operation that took a week and cost thousands of dollars. Steve Porter’s dog, Jessie, became wedged under some huge boulders after running after a feral cat when the pair were rabbit hunting. Porter and his friends tried to free the dog using crowbars and jackhammers before hiring a massive hydraulic ram from Melbourne, 65 miles away, reports Australia’s News Network.
Hoping for the Dog
The increasingly distressed dog was fed bits of liver lowered down by wire during his ordeal as the men worked, sometimes until 2am, to free the dog from beneath 50 tons of rock. Jessie was eventually pulled free and was released from a veterinary center the next day in surprisingly good condition. “We felt we owed it to her,” Porter says. “The easiest thing to say was the dog would die or we could say let’s give her a good hard go. And we did. We rallied together and we said ‘We can do this.’ Where there’s hope there is life.”
What do you think of this extraordinary story. Would you go to such lengths for your dog?
