Lieberman thinks Glenn Beck is important

Lieberman says Glenn Beck event would be “dignified and good”

Glenn Beck is a fool and a bigot.  His political views are beyond the pale, and for a sitting United States Senator to call anything Beck would do “important,” makes that senator a bigger fool than Beck.  It should come as no surprise, however, that the senator in question is former Democrat turned Independent but secretly Republican Joe Lieberman.  Check out this Raw Story by David Edwards:

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) announced Monday that he would be attending Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Courage” August rally in Israel.

“I called you and you said, yes, you would be there,” Beck noted in an interview with Lieberman. “And you said mainly because — if I may quote you — mainly because of what you saw me do in Washington on 8/28 that ‘it was not a political event’ and that you knew you could trust that this event would be something dignified and good.”

“Absolutely right,” Lieberman replied. “Look, first, I think the idea of the Restoring Courage gathering in Jerusalem is an important idea and a very constructive one at a very important time for Israel and a time that also could be potentially destructive for Israel and for us — for the United States of America, and I know you want it to be nonpartisan, nondenominational.”

“The confidence that I have in thanking you for this idea and telling you that, God willing and a Senate schedule willing, I’m going to be with you in Jerusalem in August is what you did here in Washington last August. A lot of people said it was going to be partisan, it was going to be political, it was going to be divisive, it was a magnificently unifying day that was all about American values and, frankly, about the faith in God that most Americans share,” the Connecticut senator added.

Earlier this year, Beck was slammed by the Anti-Defamation League for suggesting Reform Judaism was “almost like” radicalized Islam.

“Glenn Beck’s comparison of Reform Judaism to radical Islam demonstrates his bigoted ignorance,” an ADL statement said.

Months earlier, the ADL had criticized Beck for saying billionaire George Soros had been a “Jewish boy helping send the Jews to the death camps.”

I have written extensively about Glenn Beck and his motley crew of fanatic followers.  You can find much of it by following the related stories links at the bottom of the post, or by clicking on the Glenn Beck links in this post.  What is your opinion?  Let us know what you think of Joe Lieberman attending the Glenn Beck rally, and calling it “important?”

I am going to enjoy seeing him trying to give a speech in Israel and realize that almost nobody there knows English:D

Beck is a charlatan and should not be given any “importance” beyond being a showman. I doubt either will get a ticker tape parade in Tel Aviv.
