Woman rises from dead to die again

Woman dies of shock after waking up at her own funeral

This is not a spoof about a woman thought to be dead at her own funeral.  It is a real story!

So when is dead really dead? Let’s face it, they don’t call it the practice of medicine without cause or reason.  We all know the stories of the man who goes to the doctor with chest pain complaints from yesterday, and the doctor tells the man to take two aspirin, go home and call tomorrow.  Next thing we hear the poor guy dropped dead leaving the doctor’s office.  How about the case of the woman who went into surgery for a mastectomy of her right breast only to wake up and discover that surgeons had removed the left, non-cancerous breast.  The horror stories just go on and on and on.

The fact is doctors are human and they make mistakes, but pronouncing someone dead when they are not actually dead is rather medieval, even for Russia.  Here is the astonishing story from The Daily Mail:

A woman died from a heart attack caused by shock after waking up to discover she had been declared dead – and was being prepared for burial.

As mourning relatives filed past her open coffin the supposedly dead woman suddenly woke up and started screaming as she realised where she was.

Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov, 49, had been wrongly declared deceased by doctors but died for real after hearing mourners saying prayers for her soul to be taken up to heaven in Kazan, Russia.

Devastated husband Fagili Mukhametzyanov, 51, had been told his wife had died of a heart attack after she’d collapsed at home suffering from chest pains.

Mr Mukhametzyanov said: ‘Her eyes fluttered and we immediately rushed her back to the hospital but she only lived for another 12 minutes in intensive care before she died again, this time for good.

‘I am very angry and want answers. She wasn’t dead when they said she was and they could have saved her.’

Hospital spokesman Minsalih Sahapov said: ‘We are carrying out an investigation.’

The body of Mrs Mukhametzyanov lies wrapped in a carpet after she died for the second time at her own funeral in Kazan, RussiaThe body of Mrs Mukhametzyanov lies wrapped in a carpet after she died for the ‘second’ time at her own funeral in Kazan, Russia

So my question is this: Do the Russians not embalm their dead?  There would be little chance of such a resurrection if that were the case.  Don’t forget to leave your comments out of respect for the dead.

Russians wash and dress the dead in white clothes and thats about it. They do not embalm the bodies, the christians don’t do it, neither do the orthodox.

I’ve been wondering if this was just an attempt to see which of us would be the first to make a smart ass remark about this poor woman’s death.

Now would somebody make a smart ass remark so I don’t have to be the first.
