BP killing again: Alaska oil pipeline bursts
OIL: The monster that is killing our world
The mega oil company BP is at it again, doing, apparently, what they do best, and that is destroying our world. From the Gulf to the Arctic BP has laid its pipe and dug its wells, without regard to the safety of the life around it. We will never forget the horror of the Gulf Oil Spill of 2010 and what it did to our beautiful sea life. Despite their record of destruction they were granted yet more permits to drill in the Gulf, because, after all, OIL drives our politicians, on both sides of the aisle, and they drive our nation. For the second time in five years BP has spilled their oil and despoiled our environment.
Here is the story:
(NEWSER) A burst pipeline in Alaska has prompted BP’s latest US spill, with a mixture of methanol, crude oil, and water leaking onto the tundra on Saturday, the company announced. The spill—somewhere between 2,100 and 4,200 gallons—happened during a pressure test and is currently being cleaned up, said a BP rep; the cause of the rupture will be investigated “in due course.”
The leaking mixture threatens local vegetation, an Alaska official tells Reuters. “You have actively growing plants and they’re very susceptible to the contaminants.” It’s just the latest of many such leaks in Alaska, and comes days after BP pledged safer practices.
We must do something to stop the oil monsters before its too late, but I don’t hae a clue where to start. Complaining to our politicians does no good and we are completely dependent on the oil, so where do we go from here?
