Governor Fallin Calls on Oklahomans to Pray for Rain

Read Time:1 Minute, 29 Second

In reaction to record heat and a drought without end in sight, Governor Mary Fallin of my dear state, Oklahoma, has called on Okies to pray for rain, this coming Sunday.

Why Sunday? Why pray just for rain?

While we are at it, let us pray that we quit putting so many single mothers in jail.

Let us pray that millions of dollars saved from not locking up non-violent offenders in our state penitentiaries get diverted to educating our children.

Let us pray that more teachers don’t get canned.

Let us pray that more proven special education programs don’t get slashed and cancelled.

Let us pray for more sensible policies to prevent unwanted teen pregnancies.

Let us pray that we can afford to take care of those who can’t take care of themselves, like the elderly and the mentally ill.

Let us pray that Oklahomans lose a little weight and quit being a heart attack time bomb, fat asses.

Let us pray that we quit giving a shit what gays do.

Let us pray that we start seeing people of other cultures and different colors as co-equals.

Let us pray that Oklahomans become more compassionate, evolved, understanding, peaceful, concerned, tolerant, and thoughtful.

Let us pray that we can all be a little bit more like the forgiving guy on the cross in Jerusalem, who is dying in perpetuity for our never-ending sins.

And pray for the understanding that at the end of the day, it’s inadequate to have faith in one, unwavering, obstinate, stubborn, exclusive, true way.

Wish, pray, or creatively visualize rain, and all of the above, as you wish. I’ll take the Buddhist approach. Life is suffering, and this too shall pass.

God, make it rain!

Collin, maybe everyone should just pick what they think will work best and do it. One thing is for sure, this country as a whole needs a lot of help.

We are in a major drought here and me not praying worked for us this week. Had a couple of nice downpours.

Did you ever notice that two of the most drought stricken states are OK and TX, both with huge religious populations? If praying came with a warranty I’d want my money back for sure.
